Hey, I still think they were good, I just wish they condensed the crap out of them and made one great album of bloated rock instead two good albums of bloated rock.

I heard both tapes of UYI so much i think they melted. Mostly UYI1, ever since then i can't hear November Rain again.

Both albums contain some of the most embarrasing examples of overproduction I've heard yet. Besides condensing the two albums into one with only the actively good songs, I'd love to hear some of the songs without the overdubs, backing vocals, fucking SOUND EFFECTS, etc.

The overproduced monstrosities like Coma and Estranged are the stuff I like best on these albums. Most of the straight rock songs (fucking Shotgun Blues, Get In the Ring, Garden of Eden etc. etc.) come off kind of flat and redundant to me, I'd rather listen to a self indulgent, ill advised experiment. It's definitely a very, very dated production all around though, I never bothered to buy it back in the day but I made dubs of the cassettes from a friend I think.

The lyrics throughout are really clunky even for Axl, too. "The Garden" sounds like a poem written by an 11 year old.

Actually that was kind of harsh of me, I'd just listened to Coma for the first time in about a decade but not all of the big long studio epics are as overblown and full of sound effects as that, and sometimes Axl's lyrics sound OK.
