Ubekibekibekibekistanstan was a tough market for Godfather's Pizza to penetrate.

Anaxagoras - 2011-10-11

I thought you were making a lame joke. Then I watched the video.

baleen - 2011-10-11

Deeply embarrassing. How can you be a Republican right now without wanting to kill yourself.

FABIO - 2011-10-11

You can't.

You just want to do it very, very slowly while taking the rest of the country with you.

jangbones - 2011-10-11

Counterpoint

Cain is like a Greatest Hits compilation of the baser, lowest common denominator GOP talking points; "I hate Muslims!", "9-9-9 Tax plan!", "I'm a successful businessman", "I'm black so Democrats are racist!". He's not an embarrassment, he says what Republicans actually believe.

However, I find him the most insincere, least believable of all the candidates. And his record won't stand up to any scrutiny. He's a cypher, but that will only go so far. He is a slightly more mainstream version of Ron Paul, and has the same chance of winning a thing.

But he is not an embarrassment to these people. Hell, he's a point of pride.

He has a Master's Degree in Computer Science, worked Ballistics for the Navy, and spent decades as a business manager. He knows that the proposals he's suggesting are utterly idiotic, but he also knows that's what sells in the far right.

No one with any experience in government or business whatsoever could treat his major proposal of "no Congressional bills longer than three pages" as anything other than a farce which wouldn't accomplish what it intends. But the base is run by emotion and anger now, not logic and compromise. And Herman Cain, fast food executive, knows how to give short-sighted entitled consumers what they ask for, not what they need.

Anaxagoras - 2011-10-11

I've met plenty of IT folks (some with Masters) that are as dumb as this dipshit. Being good at math or business doesn't mean you're not an idiot in other fields. See also: the scientists with advanced degrees that are creationists.

spikestoyiu - 2011-10-11

I appreciate the fact that ignorance simply isn't enough to be a front-running Republican these days. Now you have to mock the things you know absolutely nothing about.

Timothy A. Bear - 2011-10-13

This is exactly the sort of answer Homer Simpon would offer only he would shout PIZZA at the end.

Xenocide - 2011-10-11

President Stan Uzbeki has never been so insulted.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-10-11

Yeah, it's not really important for America to communicate with all those small, insignificant states.

Binro the Heretic - 2011-10-11

I keep expecting Scooby & the Gang to trap him under a pile of stuff and yank off his face to reveal Larry the Cable Guy.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2011-10-11

Oh, take my stars already.

Also, by the end of this video, I found myself for the first time in my life, with the gaping mouth of profound speechlessness.

fatatty - 2011-10-11

I think it could be argued that it's unfair to expect every presidential candidate to know the name of every head of state of every country in the world. Few people have the memory ability for that.

But I don't think it could be argued that this is a good response to a hypothetical "gotcha" question.

Binro the Heretic - 2011-10-11

It's not bad that he doesn't know who the king of Uzbekistan is.

What's bad is that he is PROUD of not knowing who the king of Uzbekistan is and what's worse is that he doesn't feel he should bother to do the very little research it would take to find out.

What's even worse than that is he feels Uzbekistan must be inconsequential because he knows nothing about it.

It's like saying "I don't know anything about Iran, therefore Iran must not be important."

misterbuns - 2011-10-11

Uh, where is the 'white people' tag?

Cena_mark - 2011-10-11

Don't go there. Can we please have a black conservative candidate that the liberals can respectfully not call an Uncle Tom.

memedumpster - 2011-10-11

It's okay, I reserve that one squarely for Obama.

misterbuns - 2011-10-12

I know, you're so clever.

fatatty - 2011-10-12

Can we have a black conservative candidate who doesn't act like an Uncle Tom?

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-10-11

God damn, I sure wish I could have used the gotcha get out of jail card every time I was called on in class by the teacher.

Abstract Fainter - 2011-10-11

Most racist, ignorant, and arrogant Republican candidate? He should be a shoe in.

Abstract Fainter - 2011-10-11

That wasn't fair. They're all awful in their own special ways.

StanleyPain - 2011-10-11

You fucking loon....the question wasn't designed to elicit an actual, real answer. It was designed to see what a shitbag you are, and it did the job nicely, you're little dodging aside. I can't believe this was a reporter for a Christian network.
.

FreeOJ - 2011-10-11

Never seen a more terrible answer dodge

glendower - 2011-10-12

As annoying as his response is, Cain is actually tapping into the GOP's overall strategy of highlighting domestic issues over foreign policy. Part of the goal here is to distance themselves from the trillion nightmare caused by Bush's idiotic war presidency. An interesting side note to this is that it suggests there might be a current GOP interest in isolationism as opposed to the free trade, 'global village' model touted in the bush neo-con years. Of course, one of the rhetorical strategies of isolationism is to take pride in one's ignorance of other countries and peoples.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-12

We're doomed. Our only hope is Balkanization. Sad that we won't do that, we'll all go together when we go.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-10-12

I see he has the same definition of a "gotcha question" as does his peer, Ms. Palin.

Pillager - 2011-10-15

Obama's second term is looking more & more assured...
