Males aged 15-30 may not have a monopoly on stupidity, but they certainly have a majority market share of it.

kingarthur - 2011-10-17

The stupidity wanes around age 27-28 and then drops off dramatically about 31 or 32.

Friend tries to participate to look like he's doing something, but all he can say is "Have you ever broke that before?"

The Mothership - 2011-10-17

He managed to hurt himself before he even got into the trampoline, that makes this 5.

mouser - 2011-10-17

No flagpole to slide down after? Lame!

memedumpster - 2011-10-17

I broke my wrist once and still had the capacity to trash an entire room before seeking medical attention. Stupid Thanksgiving.

RocketBlender - 2011-10-17

Come on, you can't tell us only a portion of this story.

The Mothership - 2011-10-17

yea, that needs to be shared.

Frabo - 2011-10-18

Was the turkey talking shit to you?

Koda Maja - 2011-10-17

Just out of curiousity as a non-American, how much does it cost to set a broken wrist?

Just trying to get a sense of the true cost of this kind of stupidity.

Anaxagoras - 2011-10-17

Insurance will affect the cost to him quite a bit: he may have to spend anywhere from 0% (unlikely) to 100% (no coverage at all), depending on how good his insurance.

Even if we assume no insurance, it's still hard to estimate a cost. It's possible that the doctor can simply reset his bones, put it into a cast, and he'll be out of pocket somewhere around 0. (very very rough estimate) Oh... actually... he'll prolly need an Xray, so that adds... whatever that costs. 0? I dunno... it's been awhile.

If he needs more tests or a specialist of some sort (e.g. an anesthesiologist) the price can skyrocket really quickly. And if he's very very unlucky and needs to stay in the hospital for some reason (unlikely with a wrist injury, but you never know) he could be looking at an additional ,000 per night in addition to whatever tests & specialists he needs.

tl;dr: It varies a lot, but in a worst case scenario could bankrupt his family.
