Oh wow, this is like a shittier version of the one i played on commodore 64.

Udderdude - 2011-10-26

Every version of this game was shit.

fedex - 2011-10-26

the bridge that kicks in around :45 is specifically designed to drive the listener insane

StanleyPain - 2011-10-26

Seriously? The Commodore 64 version was great, although I think the difficulty ramped up too much too quickly. The graphics were better than this by far, but the music was the same shit.
And the constant digitized voice sample saying "GHOST BUSTERS!!" every time you caught a ghost was also sanity draining.

TheOtherCapnS - 2011-10-26

The Apple II version of this is waaay better and was the coolest thing in the world to 6 year old me.

We played some version where you could win by some degenerate strategy that I can't remember anymore. I remember it involved something like getting to a certain money value and then just ignoring the calls, since it didn't cost you money if you didn't go at all and would just trigger endgame at a certain point.

woah!!! this is giving me some really weird early childhood memory vibes. Its making me kinda sad! I dont actually remember this but it seems eerily familiar.. Also I dont remember my family actually having an atari 2600 but apparently we did have one. Strangely enough I do remember looking at prospective computers at the computer shop before we got it!

Jeriko-1 - 2011-10-26

You now remember how when finally agonizing through all the levels after several failed attempts at those plate throwing motherfuckers... Gozer kicked your ass and took your remaining life in a split second.

baleen - 2011-10-26

I had a Coleco with Atari adapter, and I do remember playing this game quite a lot.

Doomstein - 2011-10-26

I played the NES version, and it was pretty much identical.

Pure fucking misery.

Jeriko-1 - 2011-10-26

Sega Master System here. Oh god, those plate guys. I still remember that they were identified as 'roamers' in the instruction manual. You just couldn't get in to hit them and all the plates from all the roamers above you were raining down.

Wonko the Sane - 2011-10-27

cool story bro

Billy the Poet - 2011-10-26

Who was it who said that playing an Atari game was like trying to win an abstract painting?

boner - 2011-10-26

If you bought one of these things when it was brand new, you paid 0 adjusted for inflation

Corpus Delectable - 2011-10-26

I wasn't aware that the floor had rusted out of the Ecto 1, but I'm not surprised in the least.

Stars for you.
