"Not these guys, they're kind of dead."

memedumpster - 2011-10-27

Don't like his voice as the Joker, but this movie looks pretty good.

Anaxagoras - 2011-10-27

Same here. It was a cool movie, but DiMaggio's voice seemed too.... normal, I guess. He had a great laugh, but all of his lines didn't seem quite right.

I freely admit it might have been because I was expecting something more Mark Hamill-ish.

memedumpster - 2011-10-28

Okay, I found and watched this. Surprisingly, I thought Black Mask stole the majority of the show.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-10-27

No no no! There can never be another joker voice. Ever.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-27

I rather like that he plays up the sociopathic aspect of the character. DiMaggio's Joker comes off closer to the comic books in my ear.

It's so weird that every different actor who plays this character brings a different aspect to it out.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-27

Also, he sounds more like Dick Van Dyke as Joker than Dick Van Dyke when he actually voiced the Joker.

B. Weed - 2011-10-27

When did Dick van Dyke voice the Joker?

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-27

Superfriends.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-27

And Scooby-Doo Meets Batman And Robin.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-10-27

He played the Penguin, too.

Macho Nacho - 2011-10-27

Why is Jake wearing a Joker costume?

MrBuddy - 2011-10-28

Not Wakka (FF10), Dr. Drakken (Kim Possible), The Scottsman (Samurai Jack), General Grievous (Clone Wars, TV) or Shnitzel (Chowder)?

Xenocide - 2011-10-27

The quality of this movie is all the more surprising due to how awful the comic book storyline it's based on was.

The Mothership - 2011-10-28

Why have I not heard of this Batman movie yet? Title please? Thanks POETV, now I gotta go get a dvd or download some shit. always adding to my list, goddammit....

I also liked Mark, but this ain't bad, and I hear what cognitivedissonance is saying about the psycho aspect.

Xenocide - 2011-10-28

Batman: Under the Red Hood.

dead_cat - 2011-10-28

I don't know. He's no Hamill, but he still makes it work really well.

dead_cat - 2011-10-28

Yeah, I like that about the deranged aspect. Hamill's Joker was the joyously manic criminal lunatic; this interpretation is more understated with the delivery, and openly menacing. Both work, I guess.

mashedtater - 2011-10-28

i am enjoying it, in the way you can enjoy a chocolate milkshake and a buster bar. they both do the job in delightful ways.

Aelric - 2011-10-28

The problem with this is like the polar opposite of the problem with type-casting. The joker in TAS with Hamill was so iconic that it's hard to accept even good replacements. I have trouble looking at this objectively due to hamils performance, but I also know that Hamill said that Arkham City is the last time he'll play the joker and as such, this IS the best replacemnt I've heard yet. Cognitivedissonance has a damn good point is saying that this is closer to the comics, and I'd say that it's the closest to the Heath Ledger Joker that a cartoon has come (more serial killer and real world villain, less Cesar Romano and goofy antics).

Then again, I liked the Joker that would have the option of using a hatchet or a sausage as a weapon and choose the sausage, so who knows. Hamill is gonna die eventually, as will DiMagio and you, so in the end, what can really be done about it?

Aelric - 2011-10-28

I guess, in a nutshell, this is the "wrong-sounding Muppets" argument.
