Just sayin'.

Carpenter's goal was to make an action flick that subverted the "mighty whitey" cliche. He didn't want this cultural outsider to swoop in and instantly better the natives at their own game.

Russel knew this from the beginning and was eager to be part of it.

Raggamuffin - 2011-10-29

Yeah, the whole point is that he's clueless so I'm not sure what this video is trying to say?

Craptabulous - 2011-10-29

I really liked the guy who played Wang. He really makes the movie for me. Seriously, classic stuff when he falsely translates the door to Kurt Russel's character, just to mess with him. My friends all hated this movie because everything is being explained constantly throughout by the characters themselves. I think it just adds to the charm.

memedumpster - 2011-10-29

Oh man, I forgot just how much every single moment of this movie makes me happy!

Squeamish - 2011-10-29

INDEED!

Ursa_minor - 2011-10-29

The most brilliant scene for me is the elevator scene after they take the potion.

CJH - 2011-10-29

every scene is great, except the first one. why was it even in the movie?

CornOnTheCabre - 2011-10-29

"I've got a real positive attitude about this!" is my personal, most parroted movie quote.

Louddetective - 2011-10-29

Favorite movie of all time forever!

sosage - 2011-10-29

As a kid I thought it was a movie about kung fu demons and green eyes. It took seeing it again as an adult to catch onto the main point of the story: putting the cliche American arrogant male stereotype in a lovable clown suit. My favorite Carpenter/Russel movie next to "The Thing" and "Escape from New York".

Nikon - 2012-09-21

This is still a very fun movie, but if you're a kid this movie
is the BEST THING EVER.

Bootymarch - 2011-10-29

There's no words on it!

FABIO - 2011-10-29

One of the greatest crimes in cinema history was the fact that not only did Kurt Russel fade away, but that he didn't get a Travolta like comeback after starring in a Tarantino movie.

I always wondered how movies would be different if Russell got the part of Han Solo instead of Ford. I thought Russell did the whole "tough guy grounded in reality with a comedic side" thing better. Imagine Russell as Indiana Jones.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-10-30

Imagine Harrison Ford as Captain Ron.

Raggamuffin - 2011-10-30

Alt: Kurt Russell has had an overall solid career, and is winding up the late years gracefully without ever having gone crazy/become a scientologist/starred in Battlefield Earth.

sosage - 2011-10-30

Russel would make a terrible Deckard though...so Ford Han Solo and Indiana Jones do have their pros in this scenario.

Hazelnut - 2017-04-26

I'd have enjoyed Russell in Bladerunner.

"Where am I?"

"What's that?"

"Oh come ON!"

hammsangwich - 2011-10-29

I netflixed this movie a while back and found it patently unwatchable. Unless it got astronomically better after the first 20 minutes, I don't understand why anyone likes it.

poorwill - 2011-10-29

It does, actually.

TheDevilsDictionary - 2011-10-30

Yes, I think that is exactly when it gets astronomically better.

spikestoyiu - 2011-10-30

It does, unless you don't have a soul.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-10-30

Gotta stick with it hombre!

Louis Armstrong - 2011-10-30

Guys, he's pulling a Kurt Russel. Foolish whitey.

kingofthenothing - 2011-10-30

Oh no, some dude on the internet doesn't like the same shit I do.

FABIO - 2011-10-31

Isn't the funeral scene in the first 20 minutes?
