occupy wall street, you need to be better about some of those tangentially related to your movement committing minor property damage - Liberal Hero Jon "Woo Hoo Obama Killed a Bad Guy" Stewart

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-07

Great, now they're angry at Jon Stewart, too.

sosage - 2011-11-07

"Hey check this guy out. Dare me to? Bet I wind up on Youtube. ROFL!"

Ursa_minor - 2011-11-07

Haha, what the fuck?

duck&cover - 2011-11-07

Owww, ya shot me!

delicatessen - 2011-11-07

You ok dude?

baleen - 2011-11-07

The sad thing about real demonstrations is that all the gutter slime, trust fund anarchists, angry hippies, excons, and idiots with a chip on their shoulders for any reason come out to demonstrate their idiocy. I really hope they don't actually hurt anybody. I'm on a lot of OWS forums and while most of the people are amazingly together and cool, a few of them are violent reactionaries that scare the shit out of me.

StanleyPain - 2011-11-07

At this point, I think it's very safe to assume that anyone advocating violence is very likely a plant. The right has already been trying to go through James O'Keefe style hoops to incriminate them, and they're getting desperate at this points (I mean, really, filming the protestors and trying to give them free bongs?) I'm not saying there aren't actual dumb reactionary morons in the movement...I'm just saying we've reached a stage where the sad desperation of the right wing in this country will basically try anything to discredit the protests.

baleen - 2011-11-07

I agree with that. Then again, it wasn't a plant to dump a bunch of McDonald's applications on protestors in Chicago, but that's the kind of thing that will push a desperate person over the edge. I am not so wide eyed and idealistic that I think the Left doesn't bite back... transcending ideology, with real unemployment at 20% and people losing their homes it's only a matter of time before someone walks into a foreclosure mill and blows something up. I am terrified of how the media is going to handle it.

memedumpster - 2011-11-07

If OWS went apeshit and destroyed everything in their path it does not mean they protested for no reason, and that it didn't need to happen. OWS is expected to act like saints, while it's predicted and typical (as well as never confronted) for the cops to be violent pigs.

It's a harsh double standard and the worse the pigs get the less likely it will hold.

kwash - 2011-11-07

Fun fact about dumping McDonalds applications on protestors:

In April, McDonalds announced it was going to hire 50,000 new employees, in one day. They received more than 1,000,000 applications.

SolRo - 2011-11-07

Do you really think anything will change because of the current protests?

Ghandi's plan worked because of non-violent resistance that hurt britans monopolies (salt, clothing, etc), and at that they were actually trying to shut down british factories by getting in them.

How is anything going to change if you peacefully sit in a park 6 blocks away from what you're protesting against? Go march on the stock exchange and try to get inside, shut down the NYSE and the rich will start compromising, or the police reaction will be so violent that many will change sides out of priciple. And then you march on it again, and again.

The protests are great for getting your message out, but do you really think the politicians being funded by lobbyists will do anything except pay you some lip service? There's no pressure being put on them, not anything significant enough to change anything.

wackyakmed - 2011-11-07

The camps are serving as planning grounds for more of the action you're talking about. We had a bank transfer day that was fairly successful here in Seattle last weekend. Again, if you're more of the brainy, planning type, join a local occupy direct action group and plan something!

paparatti - 2011-11-07

5 stars for police state evil, but is a poor Western version of what happens in real war zones with real bullets.

catpenis27 - 2011-11-07

Totally true. My problem with this though is that the US claims to be this amazing bastion of freedom and equality, richest most powerful nation on the planet, etc. At least someone, say Hungary in 1956 pretty much knew the bullets weren't rubber, and they stood up for what they thought was right anyway. Of course, that was a little different, no one's invading the US yet. Sure, he's lucky just to have taken a rubber ball to the stomach or whatever. But it's amazing that we fucked ourselves in our own ass so hard that these protests are even happening.

SixDigitDebt - 2011-11-07

Nice shot. :D

Xenocide - 2011-11-07

I know Valve like to be innovative and all, but I don't think this new second-person shooter is going to work out.

chumbucket - 2011-11-07

-1 respawn ticket

Randroid - 2011-11-07

In a decade or so, after several similar bank crises, a million americans will claim this is them and they were there and they did what they could but heyy it's time to grow up and pay that mortgage down but check this youtube clip of your old man back in the day

Cena_mark - 2011-11-07

It'll be our generations Woodstock.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-07

This looks like a horrible distopian scifi movie. Would be a great scene in a remake of They Live.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-07

I was thinking Soylent Green.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-11-07

Now you see what we mean Cena.

kingofthenothing - 2011-11-08

I think Cena forgot to sign in as Baleen again.

jangbones - 2011-11-07

this is one of the most depressing and simultaneously most predictable clips ever

Robin Kestrel - 2011-11-07

Rubber bullets are less-lethal, not non-lethal. They can still easily kill you or cripple you for life, particularly if fired at the head or torso from less than 45 yards away.

This isn't funny, it's attempted murder.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-11-07

Oh come now, attempted murder holds a firm spot in comedy.

Uncultured swine.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2011-11-07

So...why'd they shoot him?

Oh, right...Oakland again...

wtf japan - 2011-11-07

Directed by Alfonso Cuaron.
