It's funny because a lot of people are protesting because of massive unemployment.

sosage - 2011-11-08

The other joke is telling them to get an education, when a good chunk of those people are educated...with large student loan debts they thought they would repay off jobs that have disappeared...ROFL!

The Mothership - 2011-11-08

yes, the joke is the high education level of most OWS protesters.

citrusmirakel - 2011-11-08

I feel like the real irony is that Rudy Guiliani hasn't had a job since 2001.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-08

They could occupy an armed forces recruiting office.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2011-11-08

Cena, because for most people a military job is the same as working less than minimum wage. For most people, it actually is.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2011-11-08

Cena, it's not just about the jobs either. It's about the banks and wall street and the top 1% controlling the US Government. If you had talked to anyone from OWS you would have noticed that.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-08

Harrytubby... Minimum wage? I get salary, BAH, BAS, COLA, and Tricare. I assure you I'm doing way better than that.
I'm aware of what the protests are about. I just don't see it as a very pragmatic approach to their problems.

Screwtape - 2011-11-08

So Cena's solution is socialized health care and wages provided by the government. Brilliant!

chairsforcheap - 2011-11-08

screwtape wins. period.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-08

Touche, nailpaste. Touche. But I'm not talking social worker jobs. I'm talking about putting these protesters to work at blowing up the bad guys.

baleen - 2011-11-08

My goodness, you're an idiot. Why don't you take some of your own advice and join the actual military, you feckless coward. If you shut the fuck up and join the marines tomorrow, I swear to god I will apologize to you. I will even make a video publicly apologizing to you.

Or would you rather just continue mopping floors and hoping that some of that military magic rubs off on you?

Cherry Pop Culture - 2011-11-09

Yo Cena, I can't join the military! I'm not in the great physical shape that the army needs and had a tailbone injury in elementary school. When it acts up I literally can't move; I can't even lie down. I have had insomnia since I was 8. Fuck you dude! :D

And baleen, don't waste effort with him. You have the rest of us at poeTV :) *nudges ur shoulder*

Cena_mark - 2011-11-09

I'm aware not everyone can join the service, but a lot of the occupiers can.
Baleen just says that to troll me. He knows the Coast Guard is in the military, thus I am not a hippocrate.

baleen - 2011-11-09

No, you are a hippo-crate. You deflect your own "hippocracy" by wallowing in a giant muddy puddle of stupidity. You watch from the shit water with your oogley eye, the other eye watching fantasy wrestling of Hippos vs. cartoonish impressions of rhinos, elephants, tigers, and bats.

Sometimes you come out of the water. This is when you are most vulnerable, because your many weaknesses are exposed.
The creatures of the jungle and the savannah conspire to laugh at how ridiculous you are. So you go back into the mud, content in your little parochial world of inland water protection.

baleen - 2011-11-09

Cherry Pop, I love Mark with a deep-rooted passion. I believe that he will grow as a person. The moment he actually puts in any effort is the moment I will welcome him with open arms and pledge my brotherhood to this great public servant. This might require him rebelling against his roots-- The tyrannical mindwipe of the African Christian missions, the totem pole of backyard wrestlers, the endless drone of AM radio. I can only hope he finds salvation.

Louis Armstrong - 2011-11-09

Don't forget, Marky has come along way as is for a Brony. A stupid talking point parroting Brony, but at least he can say.......yeah he's just a stupid Brony.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-09

Baleen, but I have changed. Since coming here I've become way more moderate.
Louis Armweak. Please don't hold that against me. I've admitted I have a problem, that is the first step to giving up ponies.

HotwaxNinjaPanther - 2011-11-09

I think people like Cena should be pissed off about how these assclowns used all their vast power and wealth to do things that ruined the worth of the american dollar. Anyone can and should be pissed off about that at the very least. Even if you don't care about others finding work, you should care that your well-paying job isn't near as well-paying and secure as it should be and your property values just took a massive dive because your neighborhood is full of foreclosures and squatters.

jangbones - 2011-11-08

that description is an insult to slugs

pineapplejuicer - 2011-11-08

"noun verb hippies!"

fedex - 2011-11-08

"verb adjective lefty longhair!"

jangbones - 2011-11-08

"adjective non-white, non-christian verbing your proper noun"

gambol - 2011-11-08

smurf her in the smurf, wipe your smurf on the curtains

Sphinx - 2011-11-08

"noun verb 9/11"

pineapplejuicer - 2011-11-08

Sphinx got it but good work all around

freedoom - 2011-11-08

Get a job you people who can't find jobs!

fedex - 2011-11-08

yo dawg, we heard you like jobs so we put jobs in your jobs so you can steve jobs and jobs

ans jobs

cognitivedissonance - 2011-11-08

The only job available at the moment seems to be Pharisaical has-been Republican collecting checks for Koch Brothers think tank meetings.

I'll happily take it!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-11-08

Coast Guard can't hire everyone.

crfog - 2011-11-08

There are a lot of good points already made, but the key to this whole issue is that, generally, those who are rich don't want to hear about it. Thus we get to listen to a whole lot of the same talking points from those with money which will never address any of the valid statements made by those protesting.

As for my stars, nobody deserves them more than SHV. Take them. Buy something pretty.

charmlessman - 2011-11-08

I hear they're hiring people in New Mexico to pick lettuce. If you have brown skin, even better.

animegurl1000 - 2011-11-08

What job does Mr. Giuliani have again? I mean, other than continuously milking 9/11 and being a corporate shill?

Binro the Heretic - 2011-11-08

He gets paid to be a massive flaming horse's ass.

Robin Kestrel - 2011-11-09

He's the President of 9/11 (tm). That's a for-life gravy train right there.

StanleyPain - 2011-11-08

So since the start of the whole OWS thing, I think this is as close as a "let them eat cake" statement we have gotten from any public figure, right?

fatatty - 2011-11-08

Well there was Herman Cain saying "If you don't have a job, blame yourself" and "[the market collapse] was three years ago".

And the "get a job" thing has been said by pretty much every right wing pundit on AM and Fox News. Which is strange considering just last year they spent the entire time yelling "WHERE ARE ALL THE JOBS OBAMA!?"

It's so uncharacteristically disingenuous of them.

erection reset by queer - 2011-11-14

Except he really said it, and he gets to keep his head.

Hooker - 2011-11-08

The way he phrases this, it's as if he thinks unemployment is caused by people not wanting jobs.

Chalkdust - 2011-11-08

I picked this up from someone else here (I think it was James Woods) but the Republicans aren't job creators, they're job creationists.

Void 71 - 2011-11-08

A couple hours later, Rudy went on to occupy a stunning strapless evening dress with matching rhinestone earrings.

Rudy - 2011-11-09

And I made it work, honey!

Mother_Puncher - 2011-11-08

Im still open to people occupying my crawlspace. Nobody hit me up on that but Rudey here might.

squadoo - 2011-11-08

All I ask is "Do Something" don't have a job? Make a job! Be a proof reader, wash cars, shovel snow, pick up trash, assist the elderly, pick fruit, mop floors, just get off your ass and do something.

fatatty - 2011-11-08

I like how he says this will be a "factor" in "analyzing" something. With factors like "all occupiers are jobless hippies" it's no wonder that this man's analysis got him so close to the White House in 2008.

Enjoy - 2011-11-08

#fleabaggers

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-08

You know, with everything that's going on over at PoE News, I'm sincerely glad you're still around.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-11-08

yeah! Me too.

kamlem - 2011-11-08

Getting beaten by cops, tear gassed, flash banged and shot with rubber bullets is more fun than having security and the ability to pay bills and rent/mortgage.

joelkazoo - 2011-11-08

You're not amusing anymore, Rudy. Fuck off.

spikestoyiu - 2011-11-09

Except for that one dude who lets out an enormous belly laugh the first time Woodstock is mentioned.

Louis Armstrong - 2011-11-08

Missing a dildo tag.

Riskbreaker - 2011-11-08

Oh Rudy, you piece of shit...

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-11-08

9/11 was the best thing to ever happen to Giuliani.

Cena_mark - 2011-11-08

Well of course his actions during the tragedy did bring him wide respect and fame, but you can't fault him on that.

Jet Bin Fever - 2011-11-08

He was in the right place at the right time, nothing more. I don't credit him for any of the tough work the people below him did. I doubt he's going to get lung cancer from pulling corpses out of rubble.

baleen - 2011-11-09

Many people in New York respect him because he took away the "ACLU" from the NYPD and allowed them to do their job in reducing crime. It's kind of sad, since violent crime dropped equally across the country, even in places that were not the Rudolph G way.

I know people who are thankful to him for "taking on the mob," and that's a pretty genuine belief. When he was mayor organized criminals lost a lot of sway, but this really has more to do with the FBI, and it was a long time coming, and it was nation-wide.

We now have organized criminals from Central America that make Irish, Italian, African-American and Russian mobsters look like a game of Parcheesi. I had a conversation with a biker from an old Puerto Rican gang from East Wmsburg (long story) that said the MS 13 people are taking over everything...

Nationally violence crime is 50% below what it was in 1990. It's hard to protest these results. A lot of streets are walkable again. Then again, 3,000,000 people are in jail, and that's just fucked up.

How 'bout they occupy your butt?
