I'm really glad that I've never had to explain ICP to someone unfamiliar with American culture, and I hope I never do, because I don't think I'd be able to.
A musical group offers a segment of our lower class & middle class whites a sense of identity that sets them apart from the mainstream & allows them to feel special despite their ignorance. The fact that their music is sub-par is irrelevant; it's often aggressive & edgy, which is good enough for their fans.
It's the apocalypse and this is the best they can do? I would have three starred this just for the lack of effort but then I heard them say "nucular" and all was well.
I'm also under the impression that this kind of rap/hip-hop is what becomes of "musicians" who can squeeze out a turd of a hook for the chorus and just cover up the need to actually compose any other notes by talking over what used to be called "verses."
