He paused the game at an opportune time and thought he saw something suspicious.

There's actually a story behind this. It's a translation error. "Family Man" was Ryu's sensei. Or something like that. I forget details...

Hooker - 2011-12-07 No, that clears it up.

StanleyPain - 2011-12-07 No, no....see, at the time, the Nicholas Cage movie "Family Man" was quite popular in Japan and the original Japanese text reads "Go home and WATCH Family Man" so as to suggest that Guile's opponent needs to stop fighting because they are not very good at it. It got mistranslated to "BE a Family Man"
This has never been corrected in any iteration or re-release of SF2 by Capcom and I have started an online petition to get them to change this to it's original proper translation and then release the game PROPERLY. Ideally, I would like Capcom to re-release SF2 with all of the original Japanese character names and Japanese text, but the brainwashed SHEEPLE of North America can't be bothered to play anything that doesn't spoon feed them English speech and text, so I won't so far as to make that demand, but this particular error is so egregious that I think Capcom owes us one. WHO'S WITH ME???

Billy the Poet - 2011-12-07 Close, but your chronology is all wrong. He's telling her to go home and listen to the lesser-known Black Flag album "Family Man." By absorbing Henry Rollins' spartan aesthetic she will become harder and leaner, better able to sing "Slip it In" or take a cyclone kick.

This is how Guile hits on people.
After hitting them.
