It hasn't been "crazy bad" since December 4, and at the moment the PM 2.5 is at 42: good. Probably some high pressure low wind heat inversion hung over the city for a while. I don't blame the Chinese at all for planning 100 nuclear plants in the next 10 years.

I was in Beijing two years ago. It smelled very odd. I finally figured out the smell was cement which reeks more then the smog. And the air was very thin and musty. As for the smog it looked pretty much like San Bernardino. I was told it use to be a lot worse before they changed out all the diesel buses and taxis.
