I've always liked this show, and it almost seems like a culmination of everything the post-Vietnam 20th century flavor was rolling toward, that would be crushed permanently by 9/11. I don't want to get too crazy about a kid's show involving giant puppet dinosaurs, but there was SO MUCH they attempted to cram into it that probably could've worked had they tried a smaller approach. But, they had the technology, they had the brand, they had the money, and they tried to do a situation comedy, a slapstick puppet show, this huge special effects extravaganza, the most mundane of corporate committee thinking to meld the Disney, Henson and ABC brands into one mishmash of insanity. The worst part about it seems to have been the desire to return to the mid-70s Norman Lear sort of "social commentary satire" show, in a decade that was absolutely incapable of receiving it.

It's a potluck of elegantly prepared shit, and I appreciate it.

That and in the last episode, EVERYONE dies.

EVERYBODY DIES.

ALSO, THE PROSTITUTE BRACHIOSAURUS EPISODE.

But on the plus side, that means the baby died too.

Everybody dying was brilliant. I can't believe they ended a program aimed for children that way. When I watched the finale as a kid I was saddened by the death of the characters, but It was all reasonable, because all kids know that the Dinosaurs went extinct.

The throw old people off cliffs episode was straight up prophecy.
