Not as good as the first North Korea doc but pretty close.
My favorite tidbit is the understated pissing match between the local mobster and the party official in the woods (part 5 maybe). Body language writes novels.
I'm always astounded that these guys manage escape from the nastiest situations with both their lives and all their footage. They've yet to even be physically roughed up as far as I've seen. The Fish's shotgun security measures save the day this time. Also "What is this, your of switch?"
These Vice Guides are at once fascinating and infuriating, That worst was the one of Kyrgyzstan bride kidnapping, where an insufferable twee hipster is making pithy comments on what is a fairly backwards practice that deserves more gravity than a dance-remix soundtrack could ever afford it.
Yeah. The "hipster" stuff doesn't bother me, but Shane Smith's editorial tone on visiting North Korea, which is that the whole thing is zany and backwards, is morally bankrupt when talking about people who are slaves held under threat of murder.
