What struck me was how outright insulting this is.
And no, I don't mean "offensive". This is not simply offensive in the way an off-color joke, an ignorant remark or "edgy" humor is offensive.
This is a carefully constructed deliberate middle finger aimed at the American viewing pubic.
It says, "You will watch this, you stupid, worthless shit stains. You will watch it just because we made it and are putting it on the air."

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2011-12-24 That's the truly weird thing here. The original Bosom Buddies had the characters dressing as women because the only apartment they could afford was in a women-only building.
Making the premise that women are being hired over men in today's economy for just about anything other than modeling women's clothing is pretty naive, to say the least.
At least they didn't make the sitcom about having to change one's ethnicity to get hired. I can just see the hilarity as two white guys try to pass themselves off as mexican so they can get in on cushy lawncare employment.
