Has anyone seen "Chronicle"? Is getting good reviews, and the guy (Landis jr) seems to know his superhero myths and narrative.

Also, if anyone can name the girls that appear in the "fantastic 4-esque" part.

Nevermind, i got the imdb page of this one.

A little too much "edgy" but still pretty funny.

Simon Pegg as John Landis and Elijah Wood as Cyborg.

And the young Max Landis that Simon Pegg is talking to ... ? That's Kelsey of Five Second Films.

When Frodo jumps into the computer at 10:49 has me gigglin'.

Jimmi Simpson gets my stars.

This guy has a lot of A-listers. I can't figure out how he got them either. Blow jobs?

An extroverted personality and ridiculously low levels of personal shame.

His dad threatened to kill them with a helicopter.

I keep meaning to mention: that's not Titania, that's Maxima. Here's how to differentiate between them:

Titania: super-strong, physically large, ill-tempered woman with long red hair in a revealing costume

Maxima: super-strong, physically large, ill-tempered woman with long red hair in a revealing costume

Also, Titania is at Marvel, while Maxima is at DC. I don't blame Max Landis for mixing them up, and frankly I feel stupid even admitting that I can tell them apart.

I thought this was pretty awesome

Yep.

themilkshark - 2012-02-05

Elijah Wood is the true star of this.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-02-05

Elijah Wood has proven himself to be far nerdier than previously assumed, DESPITE playing the ultimate nerdy role, that of Frodo Baggins. I just thought he was a dude who played a hobbit. Now I know he's a dude who IDENTIFIES with hobbits.

I remember when he was known as "Half-Asleep Watchmen Guy". Good to see him making his way up in the world!

A mild quibble ... Marvel had been bringing characters back to life for decades by that point, because Marvel, unlike DC, hadn't been shy about working death into their comics. For example, Professor Xavier of the X-Men had been killed off in the late 60s or early 70s, and was brought back in the late 70s ("the person who died was a shapeshifter who was taking my place while I was engaged in a very important project in the basement of the mansion", I'm not making this up).

The problem with killing off characters is that it's the least imaginative use for them, and inevitably another writer comes along who has ideas for a given character and needs to contrive a resurrection. So yeah, resurrections are pretty weak, but they aren't the problem; they're the resolution to the problem, which was killing off characters in the first place.
