Anyone who seen this know if it is any good? I sure hope it's good, because I really want to see it.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2012-02-19

A lot of people who saw it at film festivals said that it lifted a lot of its imagery straight from other movies like 2001 or THX 1138, but then again the same complaints were leveled at The Fall and that still has a cult following for being visually inventive to YMMV

Innocent Bystander - 2012-02-19

Looks awfully neat!

Squeamish - 2012-02-19

I'm going to at least see this, if not buy it outright. I love movies with visual mindfucks like this.

Billy the Poet - 2012-02-19

Looks promising. But everything from the color scheme to the hairstyles screams "1972" to me.

5 for evil Carl Sagan.

jreid - 2012-02-19

5 for you

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-02-20

I thought that immediately!

This gives me a strong vibe of Amer, that one was a homage of giallos/italian slasher flicks of the 70s, choke full of vibrant colors and tricky camera angles. The problem with that film is that it had nothing else going on for, and the "homage" ended up being a tedious gimmick. This one is going for the "80s homage", but if it's just that, and if the homage is not even that good, then i might want to skip. I love a lot of 80s music, clothes and movies and what not, but nostalgia trips for the sake of it are tiredsome.

SolRo - 2013-04-18

Definitely not 80s, you could mash this up with 2001 and it would be hard to tell they are different movies. That and the color schemes put this at late 60s, very early 70s influence.

To me that's a good thing.

Merzbau - 2012-02-19

I'm seeing a lot of early (Stereo, Crimes of the Future) Cronenberg in there too. Definitely interested.

sosage - 2012-02-19

PFFFT with this "it's so 80's" talk. There's at least 30-40 years worth of influence here (Syd Mead and his era of concept artists). Not just the one decade that is the current fad to rip off.

StanleyPain - 2012-02-19

This looks cool, but it seems very much more 70s than anything sci-fi that really came out of the 80s. The 80s was mostly "used future" tropes and cliches ripped from movies that defined that style. But this is definitely more a long the lines of the "clean future" that was all over the place in the 70s which, in my opinion, is a much cooler influence. Regardless, it seems to be getting decent reviews, mostly stating that it's like other "meditative" sci-fi movies like Stalker or Man Who Fell To Earth.

Interesting trivia, the director is the son of George P. Cosmatos, director of Rambo, Cobra, and the super-awesome (but mostly forgotten and underrated) horror film Of Unknown Origin.

in case anyone else is trying to figure out how to watch this:

"The film was shot in and around Vancouver and debuted in Canadian festivals as far back as 2010. Magnet Releasing (a division of Magnolia Pictures) has snagged it up and will be releasing it domestically in the U.S. in the near future."

Nikon - 2012-02-21

I'll see this movie.

candyheadrobot - 2012-08-05

I forgot I saw this up here, I watched this awhile back and can attest that it's very much an homage to 70's 80's sci-fi.

While you can say that it's style over substance, the style in which it emulates is one with gravity. The aesthetics utilized in the visual capacity are immersive, and soundtrack perfectly enhances the tangibility of what the narrative is communicating.

If you like Jordorwosky or anything experimental/artsy fartsy, you'll probably like it, but otherwise steer clear unless you want something to watch something entirely trippy.

Rosebeekee - 2016-02-19

I know someone who worked on this movie. I keep meaning to ask if I can have there script they used when working on it.

5'd for reminding me of my buyer's remorse from purchasing a Gear VR headset. Oh it works great but... In kind of a dick move purchased content from YouTube/Google Play will not play on Samsung gear devices.

This film would have been very, very awesome to watch in that format. :(
