The wrestling business is filled with people that come off as cartoon performers, but there are people every now and then, like CM Punk, that strike you as actually violent people. It's remarkably uncomfortable and repugnant.

The thing that started this whole "fued" is that, unprovoked by anything Chris Brown said to him, CM Punk made a twitter comment about how he wanted to "curb stomp" Brown.

Cena_mark - 2012-02-22

I'd love to see that. I hate how Chris Brown's career has rebounded and is better than ever now. CM Punk isn't a dick, but he's got a temper. I wouldn't mess with him if the Cenation didn't have my back.

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-02-22

i think you're thinking of the music industry.

Being straight-edge... can make you a bit irascible, or so I imagine.

A zillion stars for the bread and circuses to distract the proles from the collapse of the American Empire.

Hooker: To be fair, I don't think it's an issue of being provoked or not, CM Punk was provoked by learning/knowing Chris Brown beat the shit out of his girl friend and avoided jail. Certainly it might be argued CM Punk is not justified in engaging Chris Brown in personal matters. However, in as much that Chris Brown leads a public life it could also be argued Brown's public character is available to the public at large and may be interacted with at one's own choosing.

Hooker - 2012-02-22

I just mean that Chris Brown did nothing to CM Punk, wrestling, another wrestler, whatever. Punk made a comment about crushing someone's skull publicly because he beat his girlfriend at an earlier point. To me, making a comment about killing someone in a grizzly fashion regardless of what they've done and regardless of how metaphorical or hyperbolic you're being still requires a level of violent personality that I find really awful.

As an aside, CM Punk has spent the last six months telling anyone who will listen that his dream is to wrestle Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. Austin has been convicted of beating one of his wives, and my memory is a little foggy but I think he beat other ones as well.

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-02-23

oh no who will protect the fictionally beleaguered pop stars who beat their girlfriends

you know, besides the american justice system

SDAusmus - 2012-02-23

As far as I know, Austin never publicly tweeted "FUCK YOU TO ALL THE HATERS (who hate me because I'm a woman-beating piece of shit)!" after winning a Grammy like Chris Brown did.

Hooker - 2012-02-23

So beating women is cool as long as you're not a jerk about it?

Pompoulus - 2012-02-23

Any functional opinion I try to form on this doesn't really capture the surreality of it.

Pompoulus: This video or this thread?

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-02-23

I dunno, it's funny you should bring this up, because I'm pretty sure the reason Punk is so passionate about this is BECAUSE he holds Austin in such high esteem.

Punk sees the part of Austin he hates and wishes never existed in this young, entitled asshole who beat his girlfriend, and wants to do something about it now that he's in the position to. I guess it's violent and disturbing in a way, but not nearly as violent and disturbing as what Chris Brown ACTUALLY DID.

Punk might take issue with Austin being an alcoholic, too, but he worked a program with notorious drug addict Jeff Hardy as well any number of recreational drinkers/drug users over the years because he could make a lot of money doing so. With Brown, he's willing to give the proceeds to charity just for a chance to beat him up, which should tell you something.

Pompoulus - 2012-02-25

He is a WWE performer doing a schtick.

Rudy: both.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-02-22

I am so turned on right now.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-02-22

Glad I'm not the only one.

Well spoken, timely, making me proud to be a wrestling fan
