The Mothership - 2012-02-24

This looks like a funny episode, must have missed this one. context?

Xenocide - 2012-02-24

Redford - 2012-02-24

One of my friends is a star trek turbonerd, and we were playing the past imperfect missions in STO when this episode came up. Apparently this is all they could come up with in any official context.

The Mothership - 2012-02-24

ah, nice one X.

TheSupafly - 2012-02-24

Star Trek 2 happened.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-02-24

I guess I should've stuck with DS9 because now I must watch this whole episode.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2012-02-24

And then they ruin it with an explanation in Enterprise.

memedumpster - 2012-02-24

Rick Berman's fanfic isn't canon.

Robin Kestrel - 2012-02-24

Now I had to go look that up, as I did not watch Enterprise.

Spoiler: They had the flu. No, really. That's "canon".

Agent #1 - 2012-02-25

That whole last season of Enterprise was fan service, with Khan-style genetically engineered guys and stuff like that, because that season they got a new guy in charge who happened to be a huge Star Trek nerd.

In fairness, though, he did fix some of the really horrible stuff from earlier in the series.

Bort - 2012-02-25

I'm in favor of what he did in the last season, because the series prior to that point really couldn't find anything it was good at.

The uniforms were one of the best things about the series, and that sounds like a snarky insult, but take a look: somehow they have both a NASA vibe and a TNG / DS9 vibe. The uniforms almost literally said these are people who can meet the challenges of space and come out on top, but the writing on the show said something different.

Even the comparatively primitive technology could have been made interesting, if they had cared to showcase the humans as inventive. Case in point is those stupid magnetic cables; I think my plumber has one of those for retrieving screws from the strain.

Bort - 2012-02-25

DRAIN. God dammit, DRAIN.

I suck trucker cock.

oddeye - 2014-03-09

Should have just left it, I thought you were talking about some fancy straining pipe section that might catch a screw or whatnot.

Oscar Wildcat - 2012-02-24

They're Flower Klingons.

memedumpster - 2012-02-24

Needs "Better Klingons" tag.

BHWW - 2012-02-24

And then there were the remarks by the 24th Century DS9ers about what's her face, played by Terry Ferrel, wearing a standard issue 23rd Century Starfleet female uniform - i.e. the miniskirt.

Pointedly ignoring all of those times in TNG when you saw male officers wearing what appeared to be uniform skorts.

SixDigitDebt - 2012-02-24

That uniform did amazing things to her legs.

Also, did anyone else remember that Trills didn't originally look the way she did? And symbionts were partially compatible with humans?

Screwtape - 2012-02-26

In DS9 it was revealed that the symbiotes were compatible with 90% of all Trill and who knows what else, but that a VAST CONSPIRACY by the creepy Trill keepers kept it a SUPER SECRET so as not to make them commodities.

Oktay - 2012-02-24

It was Botox, a warrior's cosmetic treatment.

Robin Kestrel - 2012-02-24

Goddamn, but Leslie Ackerman has some beautiful breasts. I apparently need to check out "The First Nudie Musical", 1976.

kingarthur - 2012-02-24

An explanation, ad nauseam:

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/inconsistencies/klingon-fore heads.htm

Syd Midnight - 2012-02-25

I prefer the perfectly satisfying off-the-record explanation (which the link mentions): The goatee Klingon minority ruled the empire in a state of apartheid, but then the oppressed forehead Klingons overthrew the goatees and neckbeards in an epic race war, killed them off and wrote them out of their history books.

Bort - 2013-03-18

Unfortunately, DS9 invalidates that explanation: some of the Klingons from TOS show up in DS9, and they have bumpy foreheads all of a sudden.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2012-02-24

That is one bangable babe.

Sphinx - 2012-02-24

No Chief O'Brien is just kind of fat.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-02-24

I believe TSR was referring to Bashir, who was drop dead yummy.

Corpus Delectable - 2012-02-24

I saw this episode. Terrible. And this was the worst scene in it. Pure hackery. I'm abstaining from voting, due to the high nerd-rage that a one-star might elicit.

pathetique - 2012-02-24

five stars for odo with a pompadour

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-02-25

Sort of has a weird Jerry Lee Lewis vibe.

Candlejackv616 - 2012-02-25

Nope, thats definitely an Orbison all the way.

Paracelsus - 2012-02-25

5 for a fun episode of a show. Yes, it really can be that simple.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-03-02

I agree. This was a great episode.

Nikon - 2013-03-18

I like me some DS9 and this was a fantastic episode of the show.
