Oh god, they have full episodes of this on Hulu... they are fucking terrible. I thought this might have just been the intro for a package show where they ran the old shorts, but it's actually entire half-hours of desperate, ugly animation.

Les Studios Tex was a production company and a subsidiary of DIC Entertainment. The company's name got itself from the protagonist of one of their projects, The Wacky World of Tex Avery. They produced Archie's Weird Mysteries as well. After producing the Sabrina's Secret Life series, DIC shut the company down.

Has DiC ever produced anything good at all?

cognitivedissonance - 2012-03-19

Ulysses 31 apparently, if comments are anything.

Spaceman Africa - 2012-03-18

One of the worst cartoons of the 90s.

Xenocide - 2012-03-19

This would have been a terrible cartoon even if it hadn't shamelessly stolen the name of one of the greatest animators of all time and used it to hock a bunch of terrible cartoons that he had nothing whatsoever to do with.

But with the added graverobbing it might just be the worst cartoon ever made.

I guess it was just a way to attempt Loony Toons without the pesky copyright getting in the way.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2012-03-19

...but the cowboy's name is Tex Avery! Isn't that clever?

Oh, right, the cowboy's based on a character from a Bob Clampett cartoon. Clampett, Avery, same thing as far as DiC's concerned.

themilkshark - 2012-03-19

Of all the kids who would tune into a show featuring the name "Tex Avery" in the 90's I was definitely one of them. The show was so bad it's like it was a prank deliberately crafted to piss me off.

Spit Spingola - 2012-03-19

Most of the animators behind this kept their real names off of it out of embarrassment. It's really weird to only have the rights to a famous deceased director's name but none of the characters and then make a show. I wonder if they would they sanction, say, a Stanley Kubrick show where it's this bad sitcom and Stanley Kubrick is the name of the bumbling main character? Or just take episodes of Pinky and the Brain and sell it as The Orson Welles half-hour.

GravidWithHate - 2012-03-19

Huh, Billy West, David Kaye, Cree Summer and Maurice LaMarche all provided voices for this show.

The amount of talent and effort that gets flat out wasted in animation is staggering.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-03-19

I hope the people responsible for this never have a good night's sleep.

WHAT

klingerbgoode - 2012-03-19

My dad and I were big Tex Avery fans, and I remember when we looked in the TV guide one Saturday and saw that this was on.

We tuned in, and much sadness was had that day.

GuyCorngood - 2012-03-19

This is why people hate cartoons.

Pope Caius - 2012-03-20

There are YouTube comments from people who actually enjoyed the show. As if we needed another reason to nuke YouTube...

Aubrey McFate - 2012-03-21

This was like one of the fake cartoons made for movie characters to fake-laugh at, only it was an actual show.
