The thing that stood out most to me was the feeling of profoundly missing the point. This seemed to reduce all of the character's lives to the mundane.

That's what I was thinking while I was watching this. "Hey, I could do this in Adobe After Effects. Let's see. Cut the layers, composite the images, lay out the masks for... every window? Edit... and resize... the video... Dang, were did that guy find the time?"
