You know we really take the Internet for granted. I once heard Tom Kenny say how he wanted to get into voice acting all his life. Back when he was a kid there was no Internet and no voice actor fan clubs so the only way he could get information about voice actors was the public library. It made him feel a little lonely that he was just about the only person interested. These days we've got IMDB, Wikipedia and enough forums filled with obsessive, voice-actor fanatics that no matter how obscure you can find people to chat with about voice actors.

And surprisingly no Dee Bradley Baker or Frank Welker.

If by "pays great" you mean that you could work like that consistently throughout a year then yeah, when you prorate it its pretty good. But for most the work is sparse and inconsistent. Not a lucrative career.
