The controversy is that the girls aren't 7 years old.

This candy tastes so terrible, that you'll resort to lesbianism to get rid of it.

Triggerbaby - 2012-04-23 It is one thing to lez out in college, or in prison, or to divest yourself of of gum, but it is another thing altogether to dive for catfish in Ani DiFranco lake in the broad sober daylight.

It genuinely blows my mind to think that Japan could possibly take issue with this.

|
fluffy - 2012-04-23 Japanese culture is pretty homophobic, and even moreso it's ridiculously sexist.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-04-23
I refuse to believe anyone other than the 12 Christians in Japan were bent over this.
|
Riskbreaker - 2012-04-23
Well, these girls are from a super popular teen pop idol group. I don't think their fans (mostly 30 something males) could had an issue with this add.
|
Cherry Pop Culture - 2012-04-23 From my understanding, the men who follow Idols want their women to be "pure" and virginal. Like in the film Perfect Blue, the former Idol Mima had that stalker that went apeshit over her because she was doing violent and adult roles on a soap opera.

I was done by the second one

You're all so precious.
A country's wierdest porn isn't the norm of its society.
Now if this ad featured dangerous looking gameshow obstacle courses and caused outrage, then you could be confused.

StanleyPain - 2012-04-23 At one point you could buy fake "used" schoolgirl panties from vending machines in Japan. So, yeah, I think I will make a few judgements, thanks.
|
Riskbreaker - 2012-04-23 Those vending machines are not as common as the internet and urban legends make them out to be. Several people i know who have lived years in Japan have never seen one of those. You might find in some super shady red light district corner, but even there your chances are minimum.
|
Cena_mark - 2012-04-24 I think folks here have been basing their opinions on Japan from the internet. They haven't been there like me. I never saw one of those machines.
|
apiaryist - 2012-04-24 I was in Japan for 10 days. 4 in Tokyo. I accidentally stumbled across one and wasn't looking for it.

Great commercial for bad-tasting gum, but the five stars are for awful homophobic reactions to it like the following:
“Children might well copy this mouth passing! There are all kinds of microbes in your mouth, and it appears to be promoting homosexuality as well. These are ads for sweets, what is the meaning of this! It’s dirty, please stop it!”
“My 2-year-old was watching when these sweet passing ads came on! It was absolutely shocking. My child didn’t know why these girls were kissing, and was quite upset by it, to say nothing of the difficulty I had explaining it. They shouldn’t show this around cartoons for children.”
“When I saw that ad I was really worried young kiddies might emulate it!"

Its even weirder if you can read the Japanese: its supposed to be a suppository.

Cockmaster Flash - 2012-04-23
It could have been worse. One of them could have been Korean.

I can't imagine there'd be any connection between severe sexual repression and bizarre fetishes.
I assume those two facets of Japanese society are totally unrelated.
|
mon666ster - 2012-04-24
Must be because the company who made the ad forgot to blur out their genitals.
|
Udderdude - 2012-04-24
You fools! Do you even realize how many fetishes you've just created?!

TeenerTot - 2012-04-24
"add"vertisement??

orificespace - 2012-04-24
A bit of reading or research will educate anyone on the matter of Japanese society and their view of sexuality in the public spectrum. This is actually a dual issue with female homosexuality and public displays of affection.

Stars are for this vid having twice the views of any videos around it on the front page.
