Ah, this reminds me of that crazy army vet dude I saw on the news back in 1999 who just KNEW without a shadow of a doubt, that the apocalypse was going to happen at the dawn of the year 2000, so he found some piece of land in the middle of nowhere, Canada and something like 40 decommission school buses and built an entire underground tunnel shelter community thing out of said buses, complete with a church and everything.

I saw him again a few years ago on an episode of Penn and Teller, and he just KNEW the apocalypse was coming in 2012 and how all of us living in a city and not in the woods are going to perish.

apocalypse came and went. it was your birth. you're born, now get ready to die. your life is meaningless. this man's efforts, his life, meaningless. Eventually there will be no man and all our efforts combined will still have been meaningless.

all we are to do is to make toys to distract ourselves from knowing that we are, in essence, already dead.

to see the future and to experience it in our imagination is to know death and to be dead. To know that our consciousness is finite drives us mad and for those without the ability to suspend disbelief, there is no hope.
