In fairness to the vertical videos, it's a lot easier to hold iphones and droids that way to take the video...it's just a mental thing. The camera auto-orients that way, the buttons are all on the bottom of the screen (and don't rotate unless you're using a third party app) and the camera is placed in such a way in the corner on the back that it's pretty easy to cover it with your fingers if you're holding the thing sideways. I hate it when people film vertically when it's a planned video or something they KNOW they're going to be filming, but I understand it when it's something sudden or improvised that they're just whipping it out for.
