I like how downbeat this ending is, but I'll agree it's not as strong. I do like how they show how the gleecomas are a side effect of the drug, in that their happiest memory becomes exaggerated to ridiculous proportions, i.e. Danny Husk's fantasy, in his brain, really happened, Scott's old lady's Thanksgiving becomes an idealized afternoon with tea in the backyard, and a woman gives birth the precise second JFK was shot.
