Caminante Nocturno - 2012-06-01

They are not funny.

The Mothership - 2012-06-02

they try hard, but they are not.

The Townleybomb - 2012-06-02

I'm not convinced they're really trying all that much.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2012-06-02

DON'T TALK

memedumpster - 2012-06-01

I actually like Tim & Eric more than I do Zach Galifianakis.

catpenis27 - 2012-06-01

I showed this to my mom. I wanted to 2 star this thing, but my mom's reaction (or lack thereof) to the horse massage segment is worth one, and Reginald VelJohnson is also worth one. And 3 for me giggling like an idiot at the cum filled chicken.

fatatty - 2012-06-01

I like Tim and Erik but this definitely isn't their best stuff.

Dr Robot - 2012-06-02

I love the controversy over Tim and Eric here.

glasseye - 2012-06-02

Me too.

StanleyPain - 2012-06-02

Great Job.

Hooker - 2012-06-02

I don't have anything new or interesting to say, but I want to make clear my one-star rating to stoke the flames.

oh, wow. it gets funny. can I change the stars? ****

misterbuns - 2012-06-02

The unfunniness of the 90's sitcoms they are trying to parody folds over into the unfunniness of their schtick, over and over and over again: a katana of infinitely banal, dumb kitsch tempered in their own boring, faux non-chalance. The only punchline here is it has an audience.

chairsforcheap - 2012-06-02

*bonghits*

jimmicampkin - 2012-06-02

Agreed misterbuns. This is about as funny as waking up during bowel surgery.

Riskbreaker - 2012-06-02

The only punchline here will be somebody punching them.

themilkshark - 2012-06-02

Every Tim and Eric detractor goes to great lengths to specifically explain why it's unfunny. It only makes you seem less in touch with what actually is funny. Usually, the common reaction to unfunny comedy is silence.

BHWW - 2012-06-02

Part of the reason I can't stand them is their reliance on cheap gross-out humor and the essence of aren't-we-so-very-clever-we're-being-awkward-but-on-purpose-wink-w ink that permeates everything they do like toxic waste soaked into soil. It's also the worst kind of what passes for "absurdist" humor these days, often giving the impression they just rolled with whatever OMG totally so random idiot ideas first popped in their heads instead of trying to actually craft something = they manage give off a vibe of trying too hard while half-assedly barely trying at the same time.

Oh I'm sorry, was that too "long" of a response?

cognitivedissonance - 2012-06-02

Maybe the funniness is at the expense of everybody who thinks they're not funny. I know I adore them because they get you kids so riled up you'll say anything, anything at all.

StanleyPain - 2012-06-02

Please, write more about why Tim and Eric are so awful.

glendower - 2012-06-02

BHWW, given your criticisms of T&E, it seems you are suggesting that good comedy either A) involves the presentation of true awkwardness as opposed to ironic fake awkwardness or B) involves the presentation of comedy in way in which no irony (as you say, winking) is used; in other words, the comedian is up front about his or her efforts to be funny.

Under these criteria, America's Funniest Home Videos is the ultimate comedic achievement: it combines the non-ironic awkwardness of stupid home videos with Bob Sagat's zany one-liners before a delighted live studio audience. Yes that was a much better show than Tim and Eric.

baleen - 2012-06-02

I said it before... it's funny if you grew up watching terrible TV at 3am and/or you spent a fair amount of time editing video at some point in your life.

Yeah, it's a giant inside joke. At the Tim & Eric Chrimbus Special in Chicago the audience was divided between people who thought they were funny for all the wrong reasons and the people who saw that T&E were essentially making fun of their fanbase in the same way that Ween does.

They ended the show with 30-40 minuted of noodling guitar and horrible jamrock music. It was bizarre and it felt like I was watching something Andy Kaufmann might have done.

Hooker - 2012-06-03

"Usually, the common reaction to unfunny comedy is silence."

Are you kidding? Unfunny comedy is one of the most agonizing, obnoxious things I can think of. To take an example I think we can all agree is not funny, you watch the Disaster Movie / Date Movie / Meet the Spartans / etc. movies and then come back here and swear you were just boredly indifferent.

FABIO - 2012-06-06

The reaction WAS silence until the fans would not stop gibbering about it. Hell, the only reason most people enjoy them is to piss other people off. They intentionally bait non-fans then pull the tiresome umad bro routine whenever someone responds.

I've spent hundreds of hours working for public access studios and video editing and no it does not make these guys funny. What makes public access pieces funny is the sincerity and unintentional incompetence. As soon as you make that intentional (or worse, are smug about it) it loses all charm. Tim & Eric are a parody that is less funny that the source material.

misterbuns - 2012-06-12

i dunno i didnt spend that long thinking about why it wasn't funny. Tim and Eric are funny guys but their schtick is really rehearsed and predictable and a lot of how their material is presented is their editorial team. Ever seen them live?

I was kinda high and drunk when I hated on them, but hey: godbless them for having an audience. It's really all a joke to them: they can't believe they get away with it.

Jack Dalton - 2012-06-02

Tim and Eric + Carl Winslow and a talking lamp=
*****

dek863 - 2012-06-02

Plus one star for the talking Richard Lewis lamp.

Paracelsus - 2012-06-02

That's exactly why I gave it two.

Fezren - 2012-06-03

I'm not a big fan of the humor that Tim and Eric contribute to their work (HAHA THEY WERE EATING A CHICKEN FULL OF SEMEN) but they do work with a lot of other comedians and actors that I do like and enjoy seeing in the absurd atmosphere that Tim and Eric create.

I used to watch their show just for the Steve Brule bits. I thought Zach Galifianakis was hilarious in this clip, especially at 7:33 when he starts doing that rediculous dance towards the door. I'd love to see more Carl Winslow or whatever that dudes name is.
