Caminante Nocturno - 2012-06-24

A less mobile yet somehow more efficient version of the Creeping Terror.

BHWW - 2012-06-24

It just sort of draws people in while shrieking hellishly - no doubt if I'd seen this as a child I'd have been scared of it.

I'm disappointed they didn't do a "futuristic" version of the dance music with lots of synthesizers and grating electric guitars. Then again, how could they guess that the eeeeerie world of 1999 would feature Ricky Martin and Britney Spears.

Meerkat - 2012-06-24

Dragon's Domain is still my favorite episode of anything ever.

MrBuddy - 2012-06-24

This is the one episode I never saw (we didn't have DVRs in the 1970s). I'm kind of glad now.

deadpan - 2012-06-24

The only thing I remember from Space: 1999 is all the middle-aged actors in rather unflattering beige onesies.

fedex - 2012-06-24

i remember that chick Maia(?) who could turn into anything and was kind of hot too

and those cool phasers/lasers/tasers/whatever with the wraparound finger guard

Oktay - 2012-06-24

Maya. She was introduced by producer Fred Freiberger, who came along to help out in the second season. According to many people (eg. Martin Landau), he pretty much destroyed the show and led to its cancellation. Which is funny, because he also came along to help out Star Trek in its third season, and people blame him for its cancellation as well.

Meerkat - 2012-06-24

He totally destroyed the show by making it too fucking cutesy. I mean, season one was cheesy but it was cheesy in a sci-fi sort of way. Season two was just insulting.

Did that skeleton come to a screeching halt? CHANGE YOUR BRAKE PADS SKELETON!!!!

memedumpster - 2012-06-24

My only exposure to this show is the MST3K episode Cosmic Princess. I thought the show had a great plot, but wondered if they ever returned to earth to find that without the moon it had destabilized and killed everyone.

Also, Brian Blessed is the bad guy.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-06-24

One of my favorite shows as a kid. I had the big toy Eagle One with the detachable cockpit and a couple of action figures.

I also had a small die-cast Eagle with the "cargo" attachment. That was a red platform with a working magnetic crane and three little barrels with radiation symbols on them.

Meerkat - 2012-06-24

I had all the bubble gum cards. Seriously, every single one. I also had the plastic models of the Eagle, Hawk and Moonbase Alpha and a life-size rubber Sondra doll.

Because seriously, Sandra Benes was the hottest chick on there and was way under employed. To hell with Schell, I'm hurtin' for Merton.

TeenerTot - 2012-06-25

I still have my lunchbox.

Also, that guy has a bad case of disco head.

Kabbage - 2012-06-24

Awesome.
