One of my exes would go to a chiropractor, and to me it just seemed like a wacky way to get a massage so their hocus-fuckus didn't bother me.

That is, until I found out they were getting her to purchase these foot-soaking sessions that had some sort of ionic cleaning detoxification "benefits" (http://youtu.be/qj_Mcp_SNss).

I couldn't be mad at her for going to a place that made her feel good and then getting tricked into putting her feet in rusty water, but she was losing what little money she had on a parlor trick. I had to do a lot of massages-upon-request after convincing her it was a scam.

I've worked with a lot of D.O.s (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) in my job and this type of shit really pisses them off. There are genuine, useful, important manipulations you can do to the musculoskeletal system to diagnose and treat a lot of conditions. But, D.O.s study these techniques for hundreds upon hundreds of hours while completing normal medical degrees. The rules to become a chiropractor are very lax and so most of them have no idea what they're actually doing to the body.
You can tell just by how this woman is working with this kid and using this thing. She doesn't have any idea what she's doing. And, I bet this costs a lot more than you would think.
