Stay classy, CNN.

It's weird that he's starting to look like Spock's father as he gets old.

Yeah, lady. Bill Nye, the guy who holds two doctorates and studied under Carl Sagan, doesn't know what he's talking about. That's rich coming from a trained teleprompter-parroting Barbie doll who is apparently paid to sound and look as ignorant as possible. At least I hope that's in your job description, bitch, because then you'd have an excuse for proving every negative stereotype about anchorwomen right in one glorious explosion of verbal diarrhea.
The climate change deniers' excuses get more desperate and ridiculous every year, and yet you idiots continue to put them on the same level as decades of scientific research and irrefutable data. Fuck you, CNN. At least it looks like you've embraced your new role as the laughingstock of the news world.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-13
I don't know anything about this reporter, but in an ideal world her job would be to get a good answer out of Nye, which she did. It's their job.
Now, naybe there's more going on here, but Conservatives in particular are always acting like they're being hounded by "liberal media" reporters who are asking them the exact questions that they ought to be (and usually are) prepared to answer, giving them the chance to say exactly what they came on TV to say.
Bill Nye would have been crazy to come on CNN to talk about climate change without being prepared to answer these questions.
This is an informative clip, so five stars

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-14 You know, I'm not really understanding the premise. Do I have an appointment to masturbate, and I'm late for it? Is that it?

"Liberal media" my ass.

On the other hand, if you're going to confront Nye for not being a climatologist, maybe he should ask you why you didn't get a climatologist. After all, it's YOUR fucking show.

memedumpster - 2012-07-13
CNN had the nerve to put that on their official channel?
I sincerely wish I could lobby their sponsors to have her fired.
|
memedumpster - 2012-07-13 Screw the prime directive, I lodged a complaint with CNN.

So, it seems to me that she's dropping into the hypothetical in order to frame the discussion in a way that allows Nye to defend himself and his position in a clear way. "People say you're off the mark. Tell us how you're actually on the mark." She seems to have fallen victim to poor communication skills while trying to lob a softball question.
What gets me is how the Internets swallows the whole talking-head-going-after-a-scientist-LOL meme with just complete incredulity. Not even a pause to consider whether she subscribed to the hypothetical she offered.
|
Chalkdust - 2012-07-13 that's why I said she did it in a bad way
|
Corpus Delectable - 2012-07-13 Oh, Internet! Ya got me again!
Sorry, chalk. I was reacting to many of the other posts in here, an substituted my perception of that consensus for your intent in posting this. ***** of them for you. * for the 'nets.
|
memedumpster - 2012-07-13 If only she'd had a teleprompter and a script so she could consider the best way to say these things! Darn!
|
John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-14 In a real news interview, not a bill o'reilly situation where the interviewer is the star, the answers are what counts, and the success of the the questions should be measured by the quality of the answers. She gets good answers.

While I'm not a fan of her insulting temperament, I'm going to concede to the thought of her playing devil's advocate. Bill Nye is one of the best scientific communicators we have living today, and I think that's worthy of respect, but if you want people to understand just how smart/right he is, sometimes you have to take the low road. I mean, has anyone ever looked dumb talking to Bill O'Reilly?

Nye is clearly passionate about the subject and answering her poorly worded questions to his best ability... This woman appears to be as uncomfortable in her job as a teenage girl working register at a gas station. CNN couldn't find ANYONE better than this person to discuss the news? Did they even try?

Blue - 2012-07-14
Bill Nye the kooky guy that doesn't know what he's talking about was the most poorly titled TV show ever.
