kickstarter! now!

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-07-24

It makes so much sense now. All these years I've been thinking that beer companies are trying to get me to buy their piss-water by showing me scantily clad women, but in reality, they didn't want me buying their product because I have a penis!

Wow, I'm really embarrassed now. Thank you, loser-guy!

dead_cat - 2012-07-24

You mean commercials are terrible and constantly use destructive stereotypes about certain groups of people in pursuit of getting the target audience to buy buy buy?

NO WAY

KillerGazebo - 2012-07-24

"I, for one, love cream cheese and it has nothing to do with my religious beliefs! Or lack thereof."

TeenerTot - 2012-07-24

Here's an ad scenario for you...
The woman is watching a YouTube video. The man in the video is ranting about something idiotic. The woman rubs her head....

chumbucket - 2012-07-24

...thereby making the guy look like a moron.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-07-24

It's funny, I thought most of those commercials were much more harmful to women than men.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-24

I think it's funny how he says he never watches TV anymore, but he's studied and memorized every commercial.

What's ridiculous here is his whiny sense of being a victim. He observes some interesting things, but if he saw a bunch of male angels floating around in a cream cheese commercial like a bunch of fairies, how would he like that?

Rudy - 2012-07-24

So, who can I sue to stop guys like this from making men look like whiney pussies?

StanleyPain - 2012-07-24

Boy, I sure do also pine for those good old days when the wonderfully admirable and dignified world of advertising was so reliably even-handed, balanced, and filled with believable portrayals of the struggles of average Americans.

Cherry Pop Culture - 2012-07-24

When I read your comment, I immediately thought of the Chinese baby Jell-O commercial. Cuz y'know, sensitivity and stuff.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-24

Oh my God, there's a commentary track!

I think we all know that there's a grain of truth to this, don't we? I mean, men are often portrayed as ninnies in TV advertising, sure, It's a convergence of factors including who they're marketing to, the need to have some kind of simple story for an ad, and the fact that women are probably more likely to be offended by being portrayed as the ninny.

So it's an observation that somebody could make, fine.

But he goes on and on and on and on, This is part one of at least 12, and now he's adding commentaries? Fuck.

And he doesn't miss a detail, and every detail matters. The woman is taking credit for the work the man did on the deck? Well, I'm assuming that she helped him clean up the mess, so she probably deserves the credit, right? is this significant?

The comments consist, hilariously, of men accusing each other of engaging in ad hominem attacks, followed by ad hominem attacks, sometimes in the same sentence. Don't make this so personal, you mangina! Also, both sides accuse each other of not being able to get dates, probably the truest truth behind all of this.

It took me thirty seconds to find the Excedrin commercial. Maybe this guy needs a woman to give him some google tips.

spikestoyiu - 2012-07-24

I approve of all men being portrayed as bumbling idiots in advertisements for baby products. That way, nobody will ever try to get me to hold their stupid baby because they're afraid I'll put it in the microwave or something. Also, if I'm ever stupid enough to reproduce, there's no way any reasonable woman who has ever watched daytime television will let me anywhere near it.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-07-24

So, as far as Western culture goes, the feminists have conquered commercials and advertisements. This is impressive, but I can't help think that their priorities need reworking. Has the feminist movement thought about getting into politics? If so, don't tell this guy, he'll never shut up about it.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-24

LOL!!

The Mothership - 2012-07-24

oh for fuck's sake.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-24

"Feminists view men as a hoard of sex-crazed lunatics and accuse men that use the brain in their head of not getting pussy. Talk about irony and hypocrisy all rolled up in one!"
macswing - from the comments

"Sandra Fluke: Yet another bitch [like Lewinski, Anna Nicole Smith, etc.] to make national headlines surrounding her rotten pussy."
macswing -from the comments on another video

StanleyPain - 2012-07-24

*whew*. For a moment there I thought some of these guys might have had problems with women.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-07-24

From the description:

"For those people who do not get the point of this video: Yes, I know that some of these commercials (like the chocolate commercials) do not put men down and they are not misandric in and of themselves. But I mainly wanted to emphasize that women are associated with high quality products whereas men are the ones stuffing their faces and talking with their mouths full. Besides, you'll see plenty of men scarfing down nestle crunch candy bars, but only women are classy enough for the high quality chocolate."

Well, there's this:

http://youtu.be/grtWUE-VBgM

Now, does anybody really expect men to respond to this kind of advertising? Doesn't it seem kind of gay? I think men and women are collectively more comfortable looking at glamorized images of women than men, because of homoerotic associations and homophobia.

And maybe that's messed-up. it's certainly worth examining. There are a whole lot of gender-based issues that this guy is touching on, but "men aren't classy enough for the high-end chocolate" is a dumb interpretation.

big pincers - 2012-07-24

I couldn't make it through this. was the "what's in the box?" vid in there? because that's the gold standard of dumb husbands/bitchy wives ads

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-07-25

Wait, you mean the scene from Se7en?!?

Old_Zircon - 2012-07-26

Thanks, now I'm going to watch Se7en!

big pincers - 2012-08-03

no, Cheerios Hate Men. http://www.poetv.com/vid eo.php?vid=53026

Blue - 2012-07-25

I thought feminists were cunts for objecting to men opening doors for them. Are they MRA heroes now?

Seriously, all the shit he's bitching about really fucking sucks from the other side. You shave your goddam head, wear no makeup, don't do shit to your nails, don't wear fashionable or flattering clothes and have shit posture and wonder why you live in a world where "guy who eats a hotdog without worrying about how it will affect his image" is a plausible character. If a woman spends the same amount of time and money on her appearance as you do it's because every fucking dime she has is being spent to stave off opioid withdrawal.

I assure you, you have not been cheated.

Old_Zircon - 2012-07-26

I've got to give this guy credit, he made it almost five minutes before he whined about being an atheist. I would have expected someone this obnoxious to pull out the Atheism in the first two minutes.
