When I was young, my neighbor had two of these in the backyard. They were a wonderful tool for play, becoming everything from soccer goalposts to the ramparts of a fort. I have many fond memories involving spindles.

It's a shame that they must all be destroyed, unto the smallest spool of thread.

To think that if the Wright brothers had tried this design, they would have discovered human flight the very first try.

We used to do this in 50 gallon cardboard shipping barrels. Only time anyone got hurt was when we fit two people in one barrel and it hit a bump.
