Nature is beautifully fucked up.

Fantastic doc.

It doesn't take long for this documentary to start throwing out errors (about a minute). Ants aren't ruled by the queen, ruthless or otherwise.

I've just been interpreting that as colourful use of language... y'know, for "TV" ..But yeah, if you dont already know about ants then you could easily get the completely wrong impression..

animegurl1000 - 2012-08-02

Ants aren't really ruled by anyone. They continue to work, dig tunnels and forage for food even without a queen present (look at mail order ant farms).

Errors and artistic license notwithstanding, this was a great documentary, and it's good to see one that is NOT about army/driver ants for a change. Those species are so overplayed on television.

I guess I'm just being an ass, but it's hard to get past. The emergent behavior in ants fascinates the hell out of me, so implying they live their lives like Victorian England strikes me as UNeducation and destroys anything they can teach us about ourselves in relation to nature blah blah I'm a fag shutup.

Of course, I don't like the ancient assonauts guy for the same reason.

Sanest Man Alive - 2012-08-04

I fucking hate ants forever.
