Oh, Mitt, if you didn't like sex with donkeys you'd have no qualities which imply humanity. Mormon Space God bless those donkeys.

To paraphrase a friend of mine, the best case scenario of Romney getting elected would be armed revolution.

Enjoy - 2012-08-02
That's hilarious. People are still pretending the 500,000 "medical marijuana patients" in California are taking medicine? The left is turning into a complete joke.
|
Old_Zircon - 2012-08-02 The vast majority of people I've met who are medical marijuana patients (not in California, but still) are absolutely, unambiguously taking medicine. But, you know, they should just cowboy up and take that cancer like real men, right?
|
|
IrishWhiskey - 2012-08-02 About 130 million doses of pain medication are prescribed every year and for many marijuana is healthier and poses less danger of abuse than the commonly prescribed alternatives, not to mention it's use in treating loss of appetite, depression, and diseases like colitis.
There aren't 500,000 people in California taking it for medical reasons, there's likely even more than that, but the official sources are expensive, unreliable, and come with a lot of paperwork for a plant that easily grows in the backyard.
Like Zircon, the people I've known with prescriptions were genuine medical users with serious conditions. They were the only ones who'd bother, since for recreational users it doesn't make sense to go to the official sources when it's available for cheap down the street.
Of course the drug and prison industries are paying a lot of money to ensure poor people who want access to cheap non-patented drugs keep going to prison, while wealthy Republicans pop oxycodine like tic-tacs without consequence. Both Romney and Obama are corrupt on this issue, but Romney is displaying his trademark lack of understanding of human compassion here.

memedumpster - 2012-08-02 Come to Kentucky where you'll meet twice the pill heads as pot heads, and that's a lot.
|
Enjoy - 2012-08-02 Oh the thousands streaming in and out of the Oakland dispensaries are cancer patients and not potheads? MY APOLOGIES, GOOD SIRS!
|
Enjoy - 2012-08-02 btw I'm no prohibitionist.. in fact I was an i-1183 campaigner around here to end it. I'm just laughing at you guys parading out an 80-pound wheelchair prop in order to make the case for a bunch of druggies in Oakland. Shame on you and good for Romney for calling your crap.
|
Oscar Wildcat - 2012-08-02 It doesn't matter. There's no good reason this drug is schedule I. Google Harry Anslinger and you'll have a good idea how this sorry situation came to be. If you want to get government off my back, first get it out of my orifices. Priorities, please.
|
Blue - 2012-08-02 There's a lot of people that use medical marijuana to avoid going to jail. However, that doesn't change the reality that there are many, many people that need it as medicine.
Those people are real. I know them. They have the right to use marijuana and yes, their voices should be heard. Why the fuck wouldn't we put forward the people that are most affected by these laws?
Would you object to a victim of a gang related shooting talking about gang violence just because the majority of people against gang violence are people that haven't been injured or even lost loved ones?

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2012-08-02 John Holmes says what needs to be said and Enjoy hasn't improved one bit as a human being in the decade or so that I've watched him on the internet. Saddening, but hardly shocking.
|
Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2012-08-02 Having said that, Romney probably gave this guy more time than some presidential candidates would have. It''s a relative thing, but he told him what his views were and left it there. Dude could probably have done worse.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-08-03 >>what John Holmes said.
Yes, I also agree with what JHMotherfucker said, but he seems to have forgotten what enormous cowards Democrats have been on this issue, particularly Clinton and Obama.

Blue - 2012-08-03 Marijuana to sleep at night isn't a small fucking thing. Have you seen the alternatives? Do you really think it's morally acceptable for that guy to use Ambien instead?
I'm pretty fucking irresponsible with psychedelics, but I wouldn't touch Ambien with a 10 foot pole. Holy fuck that shit is dangerous.
|
memedumpster - 2012-08-03 It is a failure of the Left that the words SOCIAL DARWINIST aren't indelibly smeared across the foreheads of every single member of every flavor of the Right wing. It is the only term which accurately encompasses them all (neocon, teabagger, libertarian, nazi), and the best way to mark them so history can shitcan the ideology at last.

You know, I actually think it rattled Mitt a little.
No, seriously.
It looked like the guy's plight actually touched Romney's soul and the lone meager granule of compassion therein, but Mitt's practical side knew any statement even remotely suggesting he was "soft" on marijuana might cost him a couple of votes.
In the space of a nanosecond, he made up his mind...and was disgusted at which side won.
Of course, that was five years ago. That lone grain of compassion was long ago dragged out into the woods and shot.
|
John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-08-02 You know, Mitt Romney may be a decent guy. After all, he invented Obamacare. But running for President as a Republican in the 21st century requires a certain amount of horribleness. He did what he had to do. GW Bush always seemed pretty comfortable being horrible. The fact that Romney often looked so incredibly awkward is a point in his favor.

joelkazoo - 2014-08-02 Never thought of that, JHM!

Hey man! Don't you know we can make cars run on hemp, but the big oil companies are hiding the technology?

"This is why conservatives are assholes. They're always more deeply offended by someone getting away with something than someone being screwed out of something they have a right to."
I must give you stars for that.
