Neil Young also has a cameo at 17:47.

This movie is even worse than I remembered.

I've been wanting to watch this though, thanks for posting it.

Bill Murray's great in it.

misterbuns - 2012-08-05

Hunter hated this movie.

Spike Jonez - 2012-08-05

But he loved Bill in it.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-05

He lived in Bill's guest house at some point before or during the filming of it, apparently.

Murray captured Thompson better than Depp's somewhat cartoonish portrayal, but yeah this movie doesn't really work overall, especially Boyle as Gonzo.

A white guy playing oscar zeta acosta.

Different ends, though Fear and Loathing, the novel is a cartoon through and through. Depp was dead on. I thought Bill Murray took the material too seriously in a way that played up the idea of Hunter as a cult of personality, rather than a journalist whose work was bigger than his image. I do not like this movie, and I do not like Bill Murray in it.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-05

I think Depp and Murray both did great, but this movie is garbage other than his performance. Even Neil Young's music is really uninspired and forgettable, and I love Neil Young.

StanleyPain - 2012-08-06

I wasn't really dissing Depp, I'm a big fan of Fear and Loathing, I consider it to be basically a near-perfect adaptation of the book, bearing in mind having to edit it down for film. I just meant that Murray nailed Thompson's persona much better. But yeah, this movie just doesn't work. It's like the filmmakers weren't comfortable basing the film entirely on Thompson's work, but felt it needed some kind of cliche' Bill Murray-esue touches to give it legitimacy.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-06

Fear and Loathing the movie is about 30 minutes shorter than the time it takes to read the book cover to cover - when you take the cuts into account that means it's almost 1:1. That's how faithful it is.

Loved it as kid, but yeah it hasn't weathered well
