partial dupe. This video is slightly different and the original is down.

That is a long book, Mitt, how many Asians did it take to read it?

Riskbreaker - 2012-08-08

That would make Obama lord Xenu then.

Macho Nacho - 2012-08-08

There's a Battlefield Earth tag.

Just sayin'.

Sudan no1 - 2012-08-08

didn't want to spoil it, but the title gives it away, so OK!

cognitivedissonance - 2012-08-08

"I don't approve of the man's religion..."

Because your space alien prosperity theology cult is superior to his space alien prosperity theology cult?

chairsforcheap - 2012-08-08

zackly

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-08-08

you get all the stars! All the stars that Xenu crossed across the long, dark passage of space before trapping billions of ghosts in our primordial lava.

Everything about this man is awkward and terrible.

Now I'm curious about the guy he beat to be governor of Massachusetts. He must have been a special kind of awful to lose to Mitt Romney in Massachusetts of all places.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-08-08

Or the republicans just cheated again.

CIWB - 2012-08-08

Commenting twice here. For some reason, this new fact about Romney is just stuck in my mind. A non-Scientologist who thinks Battlefield: Earth is not only good, but also his favorite book? Is he serious?

I've never thought of Mitt Romney as stupid. I don't agree with him politically, I think he's socially awkward, but not lacking in brains. The weird stories of his bullying days in college, his never-ending social awkwardness, and this new tidbit of information is making me question my impressions of him. God, what if he's as dumb as Bush? There's a very good chance he's going to be the next president...

I don't like these thoughts, I'm going to bed.

memedumpster - 2012-08-08

Hubbard was once one of the great pulp sci fi writers along with Clark, Asimov, Blish, etc. Battlefield : Earth has been read and enjoyed by many who had nothing to do with Scientology.

Bush could not have read that book with a gun to his head.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-08-08

Naw, there's not a good chance. The electoral map is still pretty solidly in Obama's court, and the purple states are getting bluer by the day.

Rudy - 2012-08-08

Well it's a bible to some people.

deadpan - 2012-08-08

Eh, I'll believe it when he addresses a crowd as "My fellow man-animals..."

While you were learning to SPELL YOUR NAME.... I was being trained to DODGE TAXES!

Binro the Heretic - 2012-08-08

One of my buds since high school was SUPER into "Battlefield Earth" and kept trying to get me to read the books. He loaned me the first, but I just couldn't get into it and returned it having only read a few chapters.

When the movie came out, I saw it and told him I thought it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it.

I don't think he's ever forgiven me and likely never will.
