He hunts them because they're aggressive and ruthlessly canniballistic, not because they sneak into attics and build giant nests and cause damage with their poo and spread disease.
Isn't a wide majority of animals canniballistic or such? Not counting the fact that 95% of birds in general are huge dicks.
Starlings are not native to North America. They were brought here by the American Shakespeare Society in the 19th century, who had a rather bizarre initiative to release into the wild every species of bird mentioned in Shakespeare's plays.
Also, there's a starling in my mother's attic who has learned to do a spot-on impression of a garbage truck. Absolutely incredible. The garbage transfer is a few blocks away. Horrible birds but awesome skillz.
