Sting was (and wrestling notwithstanding, still is) really just terrific. I'm so glad the WWF/E never ruined him.

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-09-06

...so you're glad that TNA ruined him?

sosage - 2012-09-07

I read that he and the Ultimate Warrior hit the road together trying to break into wrasslin' together, both green as hell. Crazy how one is completely crapped on in just about every behind the scenes interview that brings him up and the other one can't have enough good things said about him.

It took a while, but Impact is by far the best wrestling show on TV right now. Admittedly, that says more about the others than it does Impact, but still. Sting is a huge part of that. He's the only person keeping the main angle from collapsing.

Riskbreaker - 2012-09-07

or keeping Jeff Hardy from collapsing from being too high and drunk.

Rather than taking a chance at wrestling's biggest stage he decided to languish in a company that gave its never over, never drawing, partial owner 6 Championships.
I was at Bound For Glory 2007 at the Gwinnett Arena. About 4000 people showed up. It has a capacity of 12,000. I was moved out of the cheap seats to lower seating just so they could make it appear that more people showed up. This is supposed to be their Wrestlemania. Sure he and Angle put on a decent show, but he can do better and he needs to take that risk.

Cena_mark - 2012-09-07

I love Sting. I've always been a fan. He was the wrestler that defined me before Cena, but I hate seeing him waste the twilight of his career in TNA. TNA is crap. TNA fans are the most delusional fan boys on the planet. They act like TNA is different, better, and all about wrestling, but the reality is that TNA has far worse booking, and writing, and they waste their top talents in favor of broken down dinosaurs.
Sting, AJ, Daniels, Joe its time to take that risk. Go for the big time.

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-09-07

Aw c'mon. I will agree that TNA is better than those clunky 3-hour clipshow RAWs by about a mile right now, but I'd say that's probably due much more to Austin Aries and a reinvigorated X-Division than Sting making some awkward, nonsensical character turnaround every other month.

He can still work, and work hard, but that doesn't mean he isn't being booked like shit.

The green mist scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

Cena_mark - 2012-09-07

I think he stole that from Tensai.

I'm reminded of a story I read about Muta's tenure at WCW when it was dying a slow death before WWE bought it and put it out of it's misery:

Muta was working a mid card match at an untelevised house show and comes out for his entrance which involves him removing his mask theatrically. While he was unmasked and pulling faces, a little boy, sensing danger, bravely came to his family's defense by leaning over the railing and slapping Muta in the face. Now most heels would take that as a complement - yelling something at the kid and then going to work in the ring. Muta spent the rest of the match acting afraid of the child. When at a safe distance, he would point and yell at the kid, but then act paranoid and scared whenever finding himself in close proximity to him. So whatever experience the crowd had that night (probably something close to boredom, considering how shitty WCW was back then) at least that one kid had the night of his life.

The punchline: The management at WCW heavily reprimanded Muta for "breaking kayfabe" and he left the company soon afterwards.

That's fantastic.

Stopheles - 2012-09-07

My brother was at that show. I heard about Muta's awesomeness (or rather, was REMINDED of the cosmic truth of Muta's awesomeness) about two hours after it happened.

PlushJake - 2012-09-07

Why is this on POE?

CornOnTheCabre - 2012-09-07

because a bunch of us like wrestling. BEAT IT NERD
