You had me at "fan film"

asian hick - 2012-09-07

At this point I'm surprised Dan Aykroyd isn't in this.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-08

Ghostbuster fans are legendary. The fact that Ghostbusters isn't very good only adds to the legend.

poorwill - 2012-09-08

Fuck you up the ass.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-08

It's true. This man has no dick.

Ghostbusters was the most successful comedy of the 1980s, and was released in 1984 and then re-released in 1985. In today's dollars the total money earned by the film was 6 million. Ghostbusters received mainly positive reviews from critics and is considered by many as one of the best films of 1984.

Even in the 2000s people still love Ghostbusters. In 2005, IGN voted Ghostbusters the greatest comedy ever. In 2006, Bravo ranked Ghostbusters 76 on their 100 Funniest Movies list. Entertainment Weekly ranked it as the Funniest Movie of the Past 25 Years. In 2008, Empire magazine ranked the film #189 on its list of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time. In 2009, National Review magazine ranked Ghostbusters number 10 on its 25 Best Conservative Movies of the Last 25 Years list. In 2000, readers of Total Film magazine voted Ghostbusters the 44th greatest comedy film of all time.

HE SLIMED ME!

It's not that bad. It's just sort of lacking in humanity.. I can see why the National Review liked it.

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-08

It doesn't need humanity, it's got Bill Murray.

Kabbage - 2012-09-09

how dare you

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-09-08

And my initial comment really was meant to convey my sincere affection for the fans. THEY'RE not lacking in humanity.

What is with this generation's obsession with using intellectual property they don't own? This cost money! They can't ever make money from this!

joelkazoo - 2012-09-09

Yes, because the only reason people ever do anything artistic is to make money!

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-09-08

Makes me appreciate professional actors.

Just more proof that almost anything prefixed with "fan-" is going to be terrible. Fan-fiction and fan-films especially.

I'm reminded of the time I, out of curisosity went to a general Sci-Fi convention years ago partly because a friend I'd known since high-school was there running some sort of viewing room and he'd had various goobers try to get him to screen their fanfilms - most of which seemed to be Star Wars or Doctor Who fanfilms shot on VHS starring doughy, spherical non-actors who engaged in "firefights" with toy weapons while awkwardly scrambling around various "abandoned shopping plaza" type locations meant to be exotic alien locales.

I'm impressed by the production values. Not just the effects, but the cinematography. Watched about twenty minutes and then I was distracted by something, and left it running in the next room. I couldn't make out much, but it seems like 90 seconds doesn't go by without someone saying the word "Ghostbusters".

No, it's not very good. They must have had a GREAT time making this, and I'm sure have a GREAT time watching this. I don't know if anything else matters.
