This was not a great movie, but its underrated. The transmissions from the future is a great cinematic trope.
Carpenter had great ideas for decades, even if they didn't always come together completely right.

This has always been one of my favorites from childhood. A lot of you probably won't like it as the dialogue and acting is, well, not good. The story, however, is interesting and as jangbones said the transmissions from the future are great and have been sampled by many, many musical artists over the years. Give this one a chance to grow on you, please.

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-10 I like this a lot too, although I didn't see it for a long time. On the one hand it was easily John Carpenter's worst film to date when it came out, but on the other hand it was probably his last really entertaining film.

saw this for the first time just two years ago, the good ones do not need nostalgia goggles to be good. This is basically the same balls crazy try everything style of film-making that made Big Trouble in Little China great, only applied to a horror flick instead of an adventure flick.

If nothing else, the transmission scenes and the climax are astounding.

I just saw this for the first time a week ago. I am a Carpenter mark.

I saw this on Netflix about a year ago, and I think it's a pretty good film. It's not great, but there are some really great elements. The ending is pretty groovy too.

I love this movie, and hold the simple mirror/water effects up as low budget genius.

Old_Zircon - 2012-09-10 In the mean time, someone was good enough to submit Dark Star a while back.

Scurrie - 2012-09-11 Watched Lifeforce for the first time last night, and I wish I could see practical effects like that in a new movie. I think it was the first time I've ever been impressed by a Golan/Globus movie. Sweet tits, too!
