People who like Apple products are shit.

The Mothership - 2012-09-24

Nice to see Kimmel digging deep into Leno's playbook.

His awfully unfunny playbook.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2012-09-24

Wait, Leno and Kimmel own Playbooks? Dude, the Playbook can't afford to look less cool!

Billy the Poet - 2012-09-24

Anyone who would wait in line overnight to purchase a consumer product that isn't a cure for something should be sterilized.

Konversekid - 2012-09-24

Silly Billy, now why would our corporate overlords go ahead and facilitate something like that?

Hooker - 2012-09-24

Planned obsolescence is the single most infuriating part of capitalism.

Konversekid - 2012-09-24

Especially when it is done by corporation to increase profits rather than simply labour unions trying to preserve long term jobs.

poorwill - 2012-09-24

Quiet you, I am doing a roaring trade in sponging off people who have decided their two-year-old phones are now completely worthless.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-24

I was kind of amazed they decided to change the plug-in, making it not work with other accessories (didn't the iPhone and iPod have the same charger/data hookup?).

They're making an adapter, I hear, but it's not free (of course) and it doesn't help if your cradle/radio/whatever is made to fit your old iDevice snugly.

I'm still using an old HTC Dream, rooted to run Cyanogen. It's slow sometimes, sure, but I haven't had the desire to blow several hundred bucks on something new for years.

Anyway, five stars for making fun of consumerism gone mad, minus two for Kimmel.

StanleyPain - 2012-09-24

All of Apple's "i" devices have used the exact same dock plug since the very first iPod Gen1, with the exception of the iPod Shuffles (which are very small)

Changing it is easily the most dickweed, crass, bullshit thing Apple could have possibly done as it now means the iTouches and iPhones willl no longer work with any of the years and years worth of devices that have pretty much always worked with the docks.

As someone who's owned a few generations of iPods (and I got an iPod Touch Gen4 not that long ago as a replacement for a broken Gen 1 touch) I think I can safely say I am now done with Apple products and I'm sure a lot of people agree with me. I mean, I'll use what I have, but if I ever want something new, I'm looking elsewhere. I'm just so, SO glad I never invested in anything like a macbook or anything like that.

Grandmaster Funk - 2012-09-24

I got an unlocked iPhone 4S and I'm happy with it. THRILLED I didn't wait for the 5 with all the BS going around.

My Macbook Pro has also held up surprisingly well over 3 years. I've used PC laptops from a variety of manufacturers over the years and no matter how much I strip them down, none of them have ever come close to the peppy, responsive practicality of the Mac or held up as well in the face of advancing technologies over years of use with minimal maintenance (which is saying something given how crappy the technical specs are on Macs)

That said, when Apple decided not to release a Java fix for Leopard when that worm was going around (despite Leopard running on 16% of active Macs at the time), instead using it as a way to force customers to buy the next OS, I was starting to get mighty pissed with Apple's money grabs. Later I was interested in developing apps for iOS, but getting an updated version of XCode required (you guessed it) buying the Lion upgrade, which is rumoured to slow even machines with tons of RAM to a crawl. It seems that more and more, Macs are just becoming flashy, trendy, expensive PCs with a dearth of software, and people tell me that newer Windows releases are looking pretty good, so I guess I'll try switching back.

garcet71283 - 2012-09-24

Planned obsolescence always restores my faith in capitalism.

fatatty - 2012-09-24

Actually I have a Gen 1 iPod (non-touch), which is basically a sharp glass brick at this point, and it doesn't use the current USB adapter. They originally used a Firewire cable for the very first model. Be glad that didn't last long.

Ah the good ol' days when Apple users would rant for hours about how Firewire was far superior to USB. That didn't last long either.

Riskbreaker - 2012-09-24

I used a blackberry for like 3 or 4 years. In that time my friends had several versions of the Iphone, and another bunch of models of cellphones. Just like a pair of shoes, i was taught that you use something until it wears out, not until a new extra shinny model comes out.

BHWW - 2012-09-24

Byt you don't understand, the iPhone 5 comes with a whole extra row of icons! Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to put my iPhone 4 down the garbage disposal.

The Mothership - 2012-09-24

But this Malibu Stacy comes with a new hat!

chumbucket - 2012-09-24

Making profits one tool at a time.

Udderdude - 2012-09-24

I have two old iPhones from "Upgraders" that work perfectly fine and run 90% of games. :: shrug ::

American Standard - 2012-09-24

"Humor."

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-09-24

0:55 Hulk Hogan is looking like shit these days.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2012-09-24

Wow, you guys are really angry about cell phones huh?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-09-24

Apple fans really are the worst about this.

I used to know people who did the same thing with the iBooks every time a new one came out, and with the iPods every time a new one came out. The one they had was still in perfect, like new condition, but they'd run out and buy the new one because it was the new one, and 9 our of 10 times there was little to no significant differences in the product.

Not to say it's exclusive to the Apple folks. It's really the same case with gamers and those "Call of Duty" games. I also remember when I worked for T. Mobile everyone went out of their way to get the Sidekick III when their Sidekick II's were just fine. The difference with them, however, is they actually complained when they realized there was almost no difference between the new and old product.

Seeing the people who do this shit actually makes me thankful for growing up poor; I've saved so much money in my adult life because of it.

Gmork - 2012-09-24

lol I hate apple cuz its too popular and the colors are too bright

Way to be as blanket-statementing as your run of the mill racist with your impeccable logic.

This is one of the few subjects in which you all pretty much act like douchebags and tools. Makes me feel like Cena_mark except with actual moral superiority on this one. (I use mac and PCs and am smart enough (smarter than most of you) to recognize they excel and are for different uses that compliment each other in any serious art or development studio.).

Way to be just like everybody else. Dumb and opinionated with no actual knowledge of the mac history and product line - just the ones since the apple revitalization PR movement that started around the time of the iMac. I had me a starmax clone and loved every minute of it. Its obvious you just cant get over the fact that osX is kinda lame and based on something that cant break the 64 bit barrier without being totally redesigned.

Gmork - 2012-09-24

So because you dont like the hype around this particular product, and because you dont like apple's ad campaign, you automatically assume that the ads are 100% tailored for idiots.

Newsflash: There are more dumb PC users than there are mac users of ALL intelligence levels. Get a fucking clue and some perspective, you jaded cunts.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2012-09-24

tl;dr

memedumpster - 2012-09-24

I use Mac, PC, and Linux in a multimedia production environment.

Mac is consistently the most useless of the three and the most prone to crash and need forced rebooting while running audio/video editing software. Even Photoshop on Macs consistently feels like you're using a really complicated Java applet on a website.

Get some work done and quitcherbitchin'.

poorwill - 2012-09-24

hahahaha

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-25

I think Gmork arrived at his assertions using the new mapping feature Apple dropped on its devices.

Gmork - 2012-09-24

Funny aside: I grew up in a household that used macs. I loved macs. I played marathon. I played Myth. I played ZPC and Abuse. I only know what I like based on my experience - if you somehow think that macs are somehow inferior based on the fact it has a userbase which contains many idiots, you might as well never use a PC. Case fucking closed. You're just very vocal about the fact that its easy to portray your stereotype on the user base because the ad campaign is laughable and childish. (something anybody with eyes should be able to ascertain, regardless of their pro or anti mac bias).

People who dont smell bullshit just because it smells like THEIR bullshit are the worst.

Now I know youre gonna say "All this over a phone?". But that statement is really the entire point of my rant. All your vitriol for anti-apple phones?

So while someone could theoretically respond that way sarcastically, i'll gladly take you at face value even knowing that.

animegurl1000 - 2012-09-24

'Now I know youre gonna say "All this over a phone?"'

Personally I would have responded with "All this over jokes about Apple, Inc. whores?"

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-09-25

Gmork, you're this guy, aren't you?
