Because everyone knows that bananas taste like male mantis heads. They don't crunch as much, but the goopy innards are similar. Tasty, tasty male mantis heads.
Fun facts: Mantidea (praying mantises) and Blattodea (cockroaches & termites) are sub-orders of the same order of insects, Dictyoptera. Somewhere around the Cretaceous, the mantidea decided to hunt other small animals while their cousins continued to eat poop or wood.
