Fox is desperately eager to get any Democrat they can on to claim they are disappointed and won't vote for him again. They are just as desperate to avoid asking their opinions on Mitt Romney or his policies though, because you can't be disappointed in failure to achieve liberal goals, and then vote for someone who intends to undo that limited progress.

Like with the Hillary voters for McCain in 2008, conservatives are trying to promote as visionaries the people who were actually stupid enough to vote on personality over policy.

IrishWhiskey - 2012-10-02

As an example of that, see his mind-melting half-formed thought about how he wishes we had someone like FDR or Reagan to offer us a New Deal and promise to tear down walls.

First of all, Reagan didn't promise to tear down the wall, nor was that an election issue, it was something done by the Germans directly and Gorbachev indirectly through liberalization.

Second, the people sitting across from you think the New Deal was at least as bad as the Holocaust, which were both invented by Nazis.

Third, Reagan and FDR offered radically different visions for America. So what you're saying is that you don't care what the actual policies are, you're voting for people you vaguely know to appear tough and decisive. If their plans don't fit on a bumper sticker, they might as well not exist to you.

Which is how we ended up with Bush. Didn't matter that his policies hurt people and he couldn't handle nuance, what matters is he reminded people of our cowboy actor president and people were 'disappointed' that Clinton/Gore hadn't done enough.

i've personally been loving the fox news tips on debating they've been giving romney
ps. i can smell the douche on this guy thru my screen; hes starting to look like the guys who play in the cover bands that infest many of the bars on bourbon st

EvilHomer - 2012-10-03

Yeah, that's how we got Bush. But then we got Obama, and Gitmo closed, and we pulled out of Afghanistan, we stopped bombing oil rich third world nations, ended the war on drugs, and got everyone free healthcare, instead of wasting money on bailouts for failed banks and corporations with the most lobbyists!

I love Change.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-10-03

Actually, he's changed quite a bit. The drawdown in Iraq, the health care laws are kicking in, and... Well, you could just go here:

http://whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com/

You also have to remember he's had a GOP minority in the Senate that's brought filibusters to bear over 400 times thus far, so it's a little hard to get things done without ruling by executive order.

If nothing else, not giving even more tax breaks to the rich is a plus. Mittens wants their tax rate at zero. In the words of Chris Rock, if Obama didn't get everything done you wanted, voting for Romney is like saying "that dude didn't cure cancer, so I'm going to vote for cancer."

EvilHomer - 2012-10-03

O bama - not quite as bad as cancer!

I love the Iraq pullout thing. Back in the Bush Ages, listening to the rhetoric, you'd think the brave, noble Dems would bring the troops home quick as you like, maybe even shower the Iraqi people with get well soon cards and Obamacare care baskets.

But then not only does the war not "end", it actually ramps up for awhile. And after a few years of that bullshit, Obama finally decides the time is "right"... because he couldn't convince the Iraqi government to grant our troops immunity from war crimes prosecutions. Really working for that Peace Prize.

As for Mittens, I don't think he'd do much better as President, no. But he's got one huge advantage over Obama: he's a "Republican". That label means that people- particularly the nonFox political media- will whine and complain and call him out on his bullshit, like they're supposed to. A President who gets a free pass for NDAA is a lot more worrying than a President who'll get pilloried each night for being a little mean to gays.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-10-03

Nice slogan. You should work for Fox.

Last time I checked, the reason Obama got the peace prize was because his predecessor started two wars, one with only barely a hint of justification. I would have liked to see Obama close Gitmo, but the GOP again blocked any attempt to actually bring those there to trial or even move them to prisons in the U.S. They've made no bones about the fact that they want to make any initiative that could make Obama look good in any way fail, which is what they falsely accused the Democrats of doing to Bush.

I find it funny you think Obama's gotten a pass. You don't pay much attention to the news, do you?

You also seem to think electing the party that gave us the aforementioned wars, wants to deregulate the already barely-regulated banking/investment industries so we can have another meltdown, wants to give the wealthy even more breaks while further eroding the lower and middle classes, and who yell "jobs, jobs" while restricting abortion, voting rights, and access to birth control is somehow the way to go.

As for getting a pass, we had 8 years of nobody bitching about Bush, the Special Needs president for fear of appearing "mean," or "biased," or "with the terrorists." We don't need another rich guy who can barely tie his shoes, thanks.

EvilHomer - 2012-10-03

Oh, so that's why they're handing out Peace Prizes now, is it? Because the guy before you started two wars? Well, seeing as Obama eagerly continued both those wars, and then started three more (Libya, Yemen, Somalia), I guess that means Mitt will be getting a Peace Prize next too, huh?

And no, evidently I'm not paying attention, because I don't see how Obama is being held accountable at all. Perhaps you could remind me again how the ever-so-non-biased American opinion industry is holding Obama to the same moral and behavioral standards they held Bush...? Because Big O is totally getting a pass.

Look, I'm not saying nobody ever MENTIONS the fact that Obama is just Bush with sexier abs. They mention it, briefly. Once in awhile they even wag their fingers and cluck their tongues! But then they move on; it's buried and forgotten within days, hours even (only so much time in the day, and we need to make sure the American people know what a dingbat McCain/ Palin/ Shit Romney is!). What's worse, there's this pervasive rhetorical pattern of detachment and partisan deflection present in all criticism of Obama (at least outside of Fox News, the eternal Other): your previous reply is a perfect example of this. Obama may be chided, but he's never to be really criticized; if he does something wrong, it's not HIS fault. Not REALLY. It's... Republicans, in Congress. Or it's... the ignorant American people. Could be the weather, or chemtrails, Fox News, or evil corporations that don't give kickbacks to the Dems. The overarching idea is that, whatever Obama does "wrong", it's not really on him, he's not really a bad guy, he's a good guy who just can't quite make it work out the way we all know he wants to, the way we all know he could. He's the flawed savior, the compromised hero that the world was not yet ready for, and that's at the absolute WORST.

Finally, "nobody bitched about Bush"? For serious? "Nobody bitched about Bush"? I'm tempting to call you a fucking idiot, Kleenex my boy, but for all I know you spent the Bush years in the Ozarks, chained up in the basement of an Evangelical end-times commune. You must have, because nobody who lived through the lowest rated President in history would ever misremember the eight year open season on all things Bushitler. Hehe, remember that time he got hit with the SHOE? How we all laughed for months and months.

And what do you care about voting in rich guys? Obama's a rich guy, too (unless you consider 0k a year "proletarian"). Rich, white, Christian male, or a rich, white, Mormon male. Gonna be kinda tough to base our upcoming vote on which guy's got the more palatable social background!

StanleyPain - 2012-10-03

Jesus, that is the most retarded political analysis/comparison of Obama and Bush I have ever sat through, and I have one of those facebook friends who gets all his news from Prison Planet and Infowars. I would rather listen to him, now that I think of it.

memedumpster - 2012-10-03

Iraq kicked us out when the Bush deadline arrived, it was involuntary, Obama pushed to stay and they said oh hell no. Bush was installed against the electoral college by the Ayatollahs in the Supreme Court.

Obama is 100% our fault. He's a fuckton better than Bush, but still a dogshit human being with disdain for the world and those with less power.

Sudan no1 - 2012-10-02

Isn't this guy in the news for a sex scandal?

My only fond memory of this guy is the POE-news story about him getting stood up in a waffle house after getting a ride there from his sister in a desperate hunt for poon.

thank fucking god I don't vote the same way as Scott Stapp anymore. and i didn't even have to compromise my deepest held principles!

Headline: Obama No Longer Has Stapp.

Billy the Poet - 2012-10-03

He needn't have worried, however. Evidence suggests that it wasn't the drug-resistant strain of Stapp.

Yes I'm sure Romney will give you all the changes you voted Obama into office for. He's basically running on Obama's platform from 2008.
