Front page dupe.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-10-04

Sorry, guys. I just realized this was a dupe.

Anaxagoras - 2012-10-04

He's not confusing a damn thing. He's 100% correct.

And freedom of speech doesn't extend to comments beneath my own videos. It doesn't extend in a legal sense, nor in an ethical sense. She has no social responsibility to enable nasty comments beneath her video. She rightfully anticipates that no interesting conversation will occur down there.

You fucking chimp.

Anaxagoras - 2012-10-04

Not directed at ROUS.

Man, poetv *really* needs an "edit" function.

EvilHomer - 2012-10-04

Anchorwomen of Unusual Size.

Same day dupe, but I love how the Tube uploader has decided to censor the comments. Nobody is entitled to opinions I don't like! Your freedom of speech ends where my waistline begins!

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-10-04

Your concept of censorship is trivial and incorrect. Freedom of speech has always extended to the ability to edit your own publication. In times and places of oppression, it's always been the editor who becomes the target of the mob or the police.

When the government or a mob closes down your website, that's censorship.

When I remove your vile comments from my youtube channel, that's editing.

We now have literally thousands of places where we can publish our opinions. We can get on youtube and scream our heads off. We can get on chat roulette and wave our dicks around. Sorry if that's not enough freedom for you, and you need access to everybody else's space.

EvilHomer - 2012-10-04

You're confusing the legal concept of freedom of speech with the ethical one.

You are quite correct in stating the obvious: that she's perfectly within her "rights" to blatantly censor the mean stuff that makes her cry. She reserves her editorial priveleg here, or rather, there is no challenge to it in the first place. The Internet does not have a constitution, there's no enforcable body of laws regulating her behavior here; the closest thing they've got is the Youtube TOS, which allow for this sort of thing. Indeed, that's why Youtube offers the option to turn on the Hurt Feelings Filter, to allow fatties to control the press in their own little corner of the sandbox.

However, "freedom of speech" isn't just a legal matter. It's one of principle. It's one of social responsibility. Respecting the rights of others to say what they want- to participate in the marketplace of ideas- is a fundamental necessity... assuming you want to be an ethical, civilized, progress oriented human being, and not a total assmongler. Indeed, this is WHY the West has enshrined speech and press laws in the first place; to prevent people like Herr Cakegobbler from coming to power and using coercive force to restrict speech rights en masse.

I certainly wouldn't claim she's not allowed to censor her comments. I'm merely pointing out that, because she does so, we must conclude that she's a dirty lardbeard crybaby.

EvilHomer - 2012-10-04

Fucking typos. Oh, if only we could edit our comments on poeTV . And the comments of people who make fun of us.

memedumpster - 2012-10-04

If I had a video on YouTube that I thought ran a remote chance of ending up here, I'd disable comments. This site is not a good argument for allowing them, we're all prick bastard sonsofbitches who hate for entertainment to pass the time in our rusted shut cynical cold lives. I'd definitely disable comments.

That guy - 2012-10-04

But inside you is a stick-thin journalistic integrity, desperate to get out! Hooray!!

CuteLucca - 2012-10-04

"That man's words mean nothing to me!" *goes on a 4.5 minute rant*

fourthguy - 2012-10-04

This is like the local news anchorwoman version of the "stop calling me a homo" kid.

chumbucket - 2012-10-04

Good lord, this woman has enough attention as it is.
