Desilu desu.

Seems like TV production company fanfares were pretty dissonant and unsettling up until the mid 70s or so.

Good old Gulf+Western.

So did the combination of brass and xylophone just seem more resonant on the old TV speakers or what? Common combination in the 60s

It never stops sounding like old Star Trek music. It sounds so terrible when they replace the deep brass sounds with thin, tinny brass sounds. The cringeworthy CBS Television theme and the many attempts to chop it up into something less embarrassing is awesome.
