While it's highly probable, it's not a given that the kid is a true sociopath. It's still debated whether a sociopath is made or born.

It sounds like he was neglected and abused, which can lead to some sociopath-like behavior, but he might be able to get those impulses under control or even eliminate them with therapy.

My sister is a textbook sociopath. She was brought up in a good home and never wanted for attention, affection or material comforts and yet she's become a manipulative, entitled impulsive monster. In her mind, the world exists to serve her. She has zero empathy for others. She has no sense of shame or embarrassment. If she is denied something she wants, she goes into a vindictive rage. Worse still, she sees nothing wrong with any of her behavior. She is completely non-functional in society.

I've known a lot of people who came from horrible backgrounds who turned out far better than my sister. I've also known some who turned out worse, but in a completely different way.

Puttting the kid in juvy will allow him to get some treatment, but his interactions with the other kids in juvy will likely erase any progress made.

As sad as it sounds, the viewpoint of the Florida judicial system is that it's far easier to lock the kid in a box and "protect society from him" than to try and fix what's broken.

Anybody that prosecutes a child as a prostitute deserves jail time and deserves to be on the sex offender registry. If you can't figure out 12 year olds can't consent to sex than you are a fucking danger to children. It doesn't matter if you think it's your job, if you try to twist the law to hurt children, you are a fucking monster and society needs to be protected from you.
