This film was made well past the point Richard Boone's face had begun to dissolve.

I don't have time to sit down and watch this right now. Did they include the dumbass song about The Last Dinosaur?

they'reforyou - 2012-10-13

That song is in the opening credits, dude...

Well shit, that's right, I never saw the opening. The movie was like half way through when I stumbled in on one of the Turner station's showings of it.

They play it over the end scene and credits too.

I first saw this on one of the early 90s monsterthons on TNT. The broadcast version included some scenes cut from the grey market VHS tape that floated around in stores during that time, such as the T-Rex catching and eating a fish. About a year and a half ago, Warner Brothers Archive started selling a restored DVD-R of this film. For me, The Last Dinosaur lies somewhere between a guilty pleasure and one of my favorite films. The T-Rex costume is recycled from one of Tsuburaya's TV shows, and Boone was notoriously drunk throughout the entire shoot. This came out around the same time as Amicus's adaptation of At the Earth's Core, and is obviously inspired by the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, if not directly a rip off.

This came out when I was seven. Even at that young age, I could tell it was total crap. I still loved it, though. My favorite moment was when the Tyrannosaur got hit in the head by the boulder. I laughed for an hour at that.

FUN TRIVIA: Richard Boone was the voice of the dragon Smaug in the Rankin/Bass animated version of "The Hobbit"

I wonder how they got the name "Masten Thrust" past the 1970s censors?
