Not progress-ing as a person.

TheMarsTravolta - 2012-10-12

There is much to hate, ridicule, and despise, but I don't understand how encouraging men to approach women, and to deal with the fear of that comes from it, is one of those things. So, maybe these men will take something positive from this...

Now, the ways they do it, and the creepy, cultish, PUAconvention/Lifecoach/inspirational-speaker-with-"Respect the Cock, tame the cunt"- attitudinal speak? Ugh.

Maru - 2012-10-12

I think the well has run dry on this PUA shit. An increasing percentage of these videos clearly aren't as repugnant or ridiculous as we want them to be. We're past the point of diminishing returns--we're at peak PUA--we need to find alternative sources of hate-fuel.

FABIO - 2012-10-13

We've PK-spiked the OAL bell curve and her LoI is only going to bottom out to FZH territory with increasing intrinsic neg values.

Old_Zircon - 2012-10-13

I think that's more about me submitting too many of them too indiscriminately than anything. Although it has also gotten mainstream enough that the most heinous parts of it are being played down if not phased out altogether, but I think there's still some life left in it.

TheQuakeSoldier - 2012-10-12

None of these ridiculous fuckers has the capability to get laid, unless the girl is drunk or drugged. In no way, shape, or form does it take this much mental energy to successfully interact with members of the opposite sex.

Hooker - 2012-10-12

Why take the chance? You can get her drunk _and_ roofie her!

Hooker - 2012-10-12

One thing I've noticed about these guys, whether speaking to a convention or (rarely) speaking to women, is that they always attempt to cut the tension with humour, which is fine. But their delivery is schizophrenic-fast, and always includes "nojustkidding" afterwards as well. It seems so extremely panicked, and seems to imply that they're either extremely uncomfortable with any sort of social tension or just gaudge it really badly and are trying to put out what's essentially a grease fire with a fire hose.

It also illustrates their lousy sense of humour, of course.

FABIO - 2012-10-12

A lot of the advice online isn't really bad. You just have to filter out their "joke" examples, the bragging, and tone down the suggested mental effort. Naturally any "guru" who uses acronyms should be instantly discounted.

Something like this can be really helpful to clueless guys:

http://www.girlschase.com/content/how-not-be-creepy-guy

Just cut out the specific humor examples and his bragging of instantly bagging women.

FABIO - 2012-10-12

and I don't think it was Mystery, but there was a clip here of some show with a pick up host teaching a bunch of hopeless guys. They actually had one really helpful exercise: hitting up a bingo hall and learning how to joke and have fun with women with no pressure or creepy nervousness. You could see things starting to click with the guys that that's how they should be acting ALL the time.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2012-10-13

You sure that was here? It doesn't ring a bell for me.

FABIO - 2012-10-13

Yeah it was here. One of the guys was some pudgy kid (18? 20?) who was a dead ringer for The Man Show boy.

Toenails - 2012-10-12

I thought like a cool guy once. Best 27 minutes of my life, but that was before the librarian asked me to leave.

Void 71 - 2012-10-12

This isn't so much what what cool guys think as it is what a former nerd who grinds women at the bars like he used to grind orcs in WoW thinks cool guys think.

GuyCorngood - 2012-10-12

I think I understand this reference experiences concept, but where does auditing come in?

Riskbreaker - 2012-10-12

LOL GUYZ YOU ARE GOING TO GET RESTRAINING ORDERS! JUST KIDDING!

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-10-12

All these PUA vids make me feel shame vicariously through all the people involved in them.

The Mothership - 2012-10-13

So the lesson is to follow all of the PUA advice that you want to and then ignore all the PUA advice you don't like and follow your experience. So..... the lesson is to talk to women and learn what works and what does not?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2012-10-13

The two miunutes that I watched seemed okay, but the title pretty mcu lays out the source of most of the misogyny in the world. If a cool guy is a guy who gets laid, every woman I'm attracted to has power over my sense of self. Whoever the cool guys really are, they can't think that this is a good idea.

cognitivedissonance - 2012-10-13

What cool guys actually think:

"Tomorrow's Monday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Tuesday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Wednesday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Thursday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Friday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Saturday, I have to check in with my Worker."

"Tomorrow's Sunday, so I don't have to check in with my Worker until Monday."

Syd Midnight - 2012-10-19

All PUA advice that is good advice is the same advice they can get by asking their mother, or any other woman who isn't going to fuck them, how they can get a girlfriend: build self worth not ego, get some better friends, pay more attention to hygiene, go out and socialize, work on bettering yourself, be don't set impossible standards etc.

When it's framed as "how to coerce women into letting you fuck them" then none of it is good advice.
