Hooker - 2012-10-23
This movie hilariously sucked.

Binro the Heretic - 2012-10-23
I loved the Hell out of this.
I was glad the movie led to more easily-available copies of the radio dramas as I'd only read some of the novels before then.
It's easy to forget how much cool and awesome shit people dreamed up in the 1920s & 1930s.

I forgot this existed, I bet it's Rocketeer bad.

Jet Bin Fever - 2012-10-23 Hey, I think the Rocketeer is pretty awesome. I know it was a flop, but the special effects and the atmosphere of the film are really cool.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-10-23 What was cool about the Rocketeer was the teaser trailer that made it look really heroic, bad-ass, and made me want to build my own jetpack.
Then it turned out to be pretty live-action Disney watered-down with a club in the shape of a bulldog. There were some neat visuals, but it didn't live up to its potential.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-10-23
This movie is great.
To Hell with anyone who disagrees.

In the pulp stories, Lamont Cranston was just one identity assumed by the Shadow, a wealthy man about town who went off on foreign adventures for months at a time (though he did run into the Shadow and let him know he approved of his crime-fighting shenannigans and didn't mind having his indentity borrowed). The Shadow had been a WWI flying ace and agent named Kent Allard aka The Black Eagle who decided crime-fighting would be his next thing and continued to fight villians under new guises, though he would appear as himself in several stories.
My own early contact with the Shadow came from paperback reprints of the pulp stories and backissues of the 70's comic from DC, all part of my introduction to pulp heros like The Shadow and Doc Savage and The Avenger and The Spider and the like.

SDAusmus - 2012-10-24 Although many Shadow purists hated it, I loved the updated Shadow from the Howard Chaykin miniseries from the 80's, as well as the short-lived monthly with art by Bill Sienkiewicz and Kyle Baker. I'm reserving judgement about the Garth Ennis-helmed series from Dynamite.

I loved the shit out of this as a kid. Outside of the casting its still pretty rad.

FABIO - 2012-10-24
They have a couple Shadow movies from the 40s on Netflix right now.

I liked this movie for the most part. But then I also dug Rocketeer, Phantom, and few of the other attempts at true pulp that Hollywood sort of tried.

Aaahh, Alec Baldwin. The only good Baldwin.
I wonder what Stephen is up to these days?

My black uncle loved the shit out of this movie.
He kept it on his favorite VHS shelf, right next to Octopussy and his prized Star Trek boxset.
