Possibly the greatest show ever conceived.

The concept is fantastic, but it's really the execution that makes it. Somehow he finds a way to outdo himself every year.

A fine show but his greatest moment is still the White House Press Association Dinner. The silence of the crowd was wonderful.

He toned down a bit from that promo.

I kinda got tired of the format though. He does not let enough room for his guests. I know it's character, but at some point you have to wonder if he should really have guests.

The Daily Show remains my favourite of the two, now.

Still 5.

He sucks at interviewing, I agree. Most guests can't handle the sarcasm and are often not sure if they should be answering seriously or joking back, and if they're not funny the joking back rarely works.

But personally I find everything else on his show a lot funnier and well written than the Daily Show. I think the Daily Show is great still but they lost something when they lost Colbert.

Daily Show is good but it's not all that funny these days, closer to a serious talk show at this point. Their election coverage was kind of painful, I made it less than 10 minutes before I had to put on CNN.

I agree that Colbert isn't nearly as good an interviewer, but the upside of that is that the show's writers seem to have a lot more room to stretch out, and to me at least it's more funny more consistently.

They're both good though.

When the guests are uncomfortable and don't know how to react it's pretty good, though. When they try to play along, not so much.

The "Gun" Police?

EvilHomer - 2012-11-07

Five stars, but Colbert jumped the shark ages ago. He was a victim of his own success- he went from a master of deadpan delivery and subtle commentary, to a giggling schoolgirl whose material primarily consists of him talking about how great he is.

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-07

I have no problem with that.

Old_Zircon - 2012-11-07

Wait, shit, I submitted this. You'll have to pardon me, I lost about 4 hours of sleep staying up for the elections, spent most of the day in line at the unemployment office because there was only one person on staff for the entire North Shore of Massachusetts, and last night's celebratory nachos gave me the shits. So I'm not operating at full capacity right now.
