Loved the opening "TALLY-HAWWWWK" as a kid.

I guess they thought having a Mum-Ra stand in would seem different enough if they made his non-powerful (less powerful?) form not quite so feeble. Maybe it saved on action figure molds, too.

Also, that's no squid, that's a baby Reaper!*

* better ending than the actual one for ME3.

I've always wondered if he was just yelling the name of his hawk, or if he chose to use the name of his hawk as his battlecry, or if that was just something he liked yelling so he also named his hawk that.

Mon Star's voice acting is amazing.

Just checked the IMDB. His voice was provided by Earl Hammond, who also did Mumm-Ra (as well as Jaga and Vultureman).

He seems to have had a career tied to anime dubs and moderately-good-to-crappy animation through the end of the 90's.

This is the only thing I remember about this show, probably because I had a Mon*Star action figure for some reason as a kid. I didn't even realize it was called "Silverhawks" until this came up in the hopper.

I remember being very excited at the possibility of a space giant squid when I was 6. I often drew giant squid because I was obsessed with them.
